lilybetbee
I have an old modified hutch - with added nest box that my hens have lived in for about 6 or 7 years - in a walk in run. I bought a second hand to replace it. I bought 4 Black Rock hybrids five years ago and now have only 1 left on her own (for 6 weeks now) in my wooden coop. I've just bought 2 new purebreds, about 12 weeks old, who are living in the eglu with its run on the lawn. (I really want 4 hens but thought it would be easier to introduce 2 new ones later than to get 3 now and introduce 1later.) The youngsters are too small to go in with the hen yet; I had intended all of them to sleep in the eglu but now I'm having second thoughts. Do you think it's worth trying to get the BR into the eglu or let her end her days in the wooden coop? Would you leave the eglu and run as it is, or put just the eglu into the WIR so the spend their days together but sleep separately?
laurmurf
they are too young yet to mix, IMHO. it's best to only mix when the young ones are at POL so another 6 weeks or so of separation, i would advise.
