clucker1
I am just recovering from Morehens Disease with the addition of a ginger nut (alias red ranger) and a bluebelle. They are called Crumble and Primrose with Crumble being a baby at 14 weeks and Primrose being the older at 16 weeks. How many watering/feeding stations do I need when introducing them newbies to my present 4 girls who are just over a year old. Reading the forum, it seems I will have to wait 4 weeks as Crumble is so young...yesterday one of the oldies tried pecking her through the wire of the old rabbit run and it took her 3 attempted pecks before she moved away and I think that was coincidental she moved. The older chickens cannot reach the newbies, yet one chikcen in particular is still trying. I have 2 omlet glub and grubs and do not want to buy any more unnecessarily. If I need to provide more feeding/watering points has anyone got any handy ideas how to make their own that can be tied to the wire of a walk in run? The girls have lots of woodchips and if you leave anything on the floor it will be moved by their digging skills! rip Polo x
laurmurf
you will need as many feeders as you can manage when you introduce the newbies cause the older ones will block them from it: food is the biggest source of tension. Can you buy some cheap plastic feeders and hang them from the WIR or stand them on bricks or something? The red and white plastic ones don't last long but you could get a few of those without breaking the bank.
clucker1
Thanks for that. I am wondering have any omleteers have made their own feeding troughs? I seem to remember someone writing something about milk cartons?? rip Polo x
Henergy
If I ever need extra feeders I have got a selection of metal dog bowls - they were only about a £ from Pets at Home
