Thanks for that squiffs - good to know I don't have to rule out silkies. As for photographing, I too take lots and lots of pictures and use the odd couple that happen to be decent ones.

My silkies don't seem to mind the rain. No more than the others anyway and seem to dry off pretty quick.

I'm loving all the pics! I think I need some frizzle pekins

Introducing Josephine - she was going to be called Biryani but she had such an attitude - a Napolean complex we decided so then she had to be called Josephine.

She's very easy to handle - very very tame - calls back when I call her name - but she is mean as hell to the other chickens. She clearly has no idea that she's half their size

I admit, all but one of my Silkies came from the pet department of a garden centre  but I couldn't resist them. The little white one on here, Doodle, came from a breeder hours and hours away.

My Frizzles came from a lady who used to work at our vets and who I found was showing at last year's Newbury show.

Cheaky Chook, were you simply at the garden centre to have a look around and ended up taking some hens home? :D

It was worse. I was there to accompany my OH who was looking for nice sensible DIY stuff and while I was waiting I went for a rummage in the pet area to Ahh at the hammies and get some nice chewies for the dogs. Somehow a box of Silkies found its way into the car

I hadn't realised they did hens.

Now that particular garden centre / DIY place is mysteriously out of bounds

Introducing my little girls:-

Oscarina, a Naked Neck. She is not a perfect example but we love her:-

Mildred the Wyandotte with a precious tomato!:-

Bramble who is a frizzle Pekin referred to as a 'pompom chicken' by my neighbour's grandchild. Not sure if she is typical of the breed but she is definitely the most entertaining of the group  :-

A very shy Serama who is not good at having her photo taken:-

Thank you for sharing the photos everybody - they really are gorgeous. Where did you get all of your bantams? Did most of you hatch them yourselves?

I got my bantams from 3 different breeders. They are all fairly easy going and just wander around most of the day together.

I can't believe I have only had them since May/June. Can't imagine life without them now.

Wow they`re lovely.

I`m new to here, and new to keeping chickens....yesterday we got our 3 bantams. A Pekin ( Doris) and 2 wyndottes ( Iris and Mabel)....one of which is very bossy.

I have some lovely pictures of them on my phone.....when the kids get in from school I`ll get them to post them.

i`ve already learn a lot from perusing Omlet.
