beach chick
I'm starting to clear another patch of the garden, which includes a clump of crocosmia. thing is, the crocosmia is about 50% plant and 50% grass - is there a simple way to clear it out, or should I just dig it all up and dump it? thanks
Jools
If you have the patience, dig it up clump by clump and extract the crocosmias bulb by bulb then replant. Or offer them FTG to someone to do it themselves as they're exceptionally beautiful plants and not cheap to buy.
Snowy
They do benefit from being split up every now and again, so yes, dig them up, clear out the grass and replant the corms.
Olly
You will never, never get rid of all the crocosmia! It's like dragons' teeth - dig it up and more will come. On that basis, I'd dig the whole patch out, and just pick out a few crocosmia corms and replant them once the patch is cleared. I wouldn't waste time weeding around them. beach chick
Olly - a woman after my own heart!! cant face chucking it all away, but on the other hand if I'm clearing this patch cant see the point of leaving the weed-infested clump... so dig it up and pick bits out sounds good to me.
