Feeder doors keep closing when I walk away

Firstly I should point out that my girl is 27 so no child, but she is very accident prone and unfortunately as madcap as her little brothers. She is taking part in the palace to palace bike ride on Sunday & I am nervous. We went shopping for kit & she got very fed up with me trying to make her buy brightly coloured safety kit.

DD went on climbing trip recently & texted me on way home saying the blood wasn't as bad as it looks, well, it was as bad as it looked, she had fallen on some jagged rocks and was swollen, bloody and bruised. She plays cricket & football & has been injured in both, damaging her foot & her hand. ( I have a wonderful picture of her catching a chap out - she's wicket keeper, I insist on her wearing a face shield thing but I don't think she does) so you can see why I will be happy when Sunday is over!

What a worry for you, my big brother was like that, he used to be in the St John's Ambulance & attended many high profile events in London & usually he was the only one needing attention He even tripped on stairs at Earls Court and managed to sprain his thumb by getting it caught in the handrail

 

I hope it goes well on Sunday and is boringly uneventful

All of those pastimes incur a little injury now & again; I wouldn't fret too much

Having fallen in a ditch last weekend picking blackberries (the ground looked level to me), I have accepted my fate at being forever accident prone (53 and should know better). It makes you tough! Well that's my theory - all those scars, scratches etc must account for something!!!! I don't think there is anywhere on my body that I haven't bumped, gouged, cut, scratched. Bruises are a normality with me - there are moments when I wonder where I got that big one on my leg from and oh there's another . . . how did that get there?

 

I'm sure your daughter will have a wonderful time - as long as everyone keeps their distance! On the other hand perhaps if they are close she will have something hopefully soft to land on. She'll be fine. Gotta love that girl for doing good!

Oh dear! I know what this is like as my son is as bad! Hope your daughter gets from start to finish without breaking anything more than into a sweat She certainly sounds like a wonderful woman with a great attitude to life.

All done! 45 miles, so bit of a sore botty, but all in one piece. She's planning to do The Soldier Challenge in London next year, the twins did it this year & had a great time.

My eldest is accident prone - one leg has been x-rayed in bits from ankle upwards due to different injuries - come home today having been studded in football with bloody knee and sore ankle - I told him I am off duty

 

Hope he is ok. DS is the same with rugby. Always sporting a black eye, big bruises etc. One time he came home with a cut that ran from just above his left eye, down his left cheek and under his chin and a black eye and bruised nose Although he is only 16 he is now playing with the under 18s who seem to be worse He loves it though.

He is really enjoying it. My brother rang the other day and he is a massive rugby fan as well. DS answered and that was it! Both of them chatting away about the World Cup. It was lovely to see him so animated but it made me a bit tearful as he seemed so grown up.

leg is pussy this morning so I suspect he'll need antib's - off to GP today. I am not surprised as it was covered in mud when he got in yesterday. This despite me sending wipes for OH to use on any injuries I give up on the men in my life.

Beckie has just announced that she is going coaststeering this weekend. How has she interpreted that as a safe past-time? I was thinking more crochet! She's also planning C2C on bike next week. I'm dead proud of her though.

May I ask what coaststeering is?

Basically it's working along the coast via cliffs, rocks and water. It's guided & you should wear wet suits & buoyancy aids. I can see the appeal but making sure she takes full first aid kit anyway.

We watched a group doing it in the summer and it looks really exhilarating. They were being well guided and supervised and it was fascinating to watch them make their way round. Your daughter sounds like someone who will really love the excitement of it. Good for her patsylabrador. Besides, crochet is quite dangerous; nasty hooks involved in that . Where is she doing the coaststeering? I wish I had done more things like this when I was younger .
