chookingham
Aha! So now I have posted a few times I can put up another pic or three! I started chicken keeping nearly 4 years ago with a trusty purple eglu, one gingernut, Maggie and one pepperpot, Annie. We lost maggie to a tumour when she was about 2 years old, and introduced 3 new girls, Elsie a white tailed ginger hybrid, Winnie, black tailed ginger hybrid and Dolly another pepperpot. After a trip to Wimpole Home Farm, my hubby fell in love with Orps, so in January this year we added Rose (Buff), Martha (Black) and Amy (gold laced) orpingtons from power poultry in Norfolk. At which point we also needed to increase the accommodation and so chookingham palace was built by our neighbour, with the eglu as the west wing . Sadly we lost our old Annie on Friday, Fine at 9am and discovered dead at 3.30pm in the run. Old age I guess as she was a prolific layer. As 6 hens looked lonely without her, we succumbed to Morehens and on Saturday brought home Gwen (bluebell), Bert (speckledy) and Sanjeev (light sussex). Don't ask about the names for Bert and Sanjeev, yes they are both hens but I stupidly let the men in my life choose the names Anyway, here they all are: new girls chookingham palace before the west wing was put into position l ro r Amy, Martha, Rose,Elsie, Dolly, Winnie, Annie (RIP)

chookingham
Well. they do have Royal Connections as the son of the owners of Power Poultry where we bought the Orps was last year named "honorary keeper of the Royal Buff Orpingtons" and now has special care of a specific flock of which my girl "Princess" Rose is a distant relative. She is rather aloof, and they all get treated like royalty
