Sheilaz
Very good, except I thought I was listening to a special news bulletin! Maybe this should be in embarrassing moments. After a late lunch I had the radio on and was terribly shocked and worried by what I heard. I even wondered if my son was OK or involved as I hadn't heard from him over the weekend. I nearly 'phoned daughter to warn her not to go near the affected area. I then had to go out, so on my return made a point of listening to the news for updates. Not mentioned. Not April 1st. Penny has just dropped and I looked up Radio 4 to playback the afternoon play. D'oh! So realistic, anyone else hear it (or fell for it?) Space Chick
No but I'm intrigued now to listen on listen again. They have some fab afternoon plays on Radio
Lavenders_Blue
Didn't that happen when The War of the Worlds was first broadcast on the radio? Mass panic as people thought earth was really being invavded. Plays broadcast as news bulletins should perhaps come with a warning

Good job you didn't listen to War of The Worlds when that was first broadcast. People really did think that the world had been invaded! I too am intrigued as the the play

sadietoo
Ok..just read this...I was travelling back from Norwich today and the very nice lady behind me asked me where I was going, I explained I was only going through London on my way to the South Coast and she said I should be ok, but to stay away from Waterloo because there was rioting...I asked her what had triggered the trouble this time and she didn't know...are we talking about the same thing or am I completely at cross purposes?..haven't really listened to the news in detail since I've been back, but also didn't hear about any riots in London today....if correct, completely taken in, but only due to third party input!!! Plum
That's funny because I heard something about tanks running over people or something like that, didnt stop to listen because I was visiting a patient and then forgot . Must have been the play
Sheilaz
That's right Plum, and it really did sound like the interviews that are broadcast in special news bulletins. Yes Sadie, the fellow passenger must have fallen for it too, glad it wasn't just me. I'd missed the beginning, but they did mention the Southbank and Waterloo, which is what made me listen. Glad it wasn't real!
Plum
I'll listen to it properly tonight. Those plays are usually really good listening.
Sheilaz
You'll wonder how I was so gullible! The War of the World scenario vaguely crossed my mind but then, because of that example, I didn't think something so realistic but fiction would be broadcast now. Then I became completely drawn in! I just so glad it wasn't true, it's safe to go out now. However, not keen on daughter taking part in a planned flash mob dance, it has shaken me up!
