Allergy rash on face

Recommended Posts

Face was feeling a bit funny friday night then after my shower on saturday was burning and itching like mad! I'm now covered in a red rash, at worst on sat my face was swollen too but that has subsided a little now. It's still itching and tingling like mad though and has tiny tiny white spots on some parts of it too.

I've been trying to decide the cause of it. I bought a new moisturiser (Naked smooth cocoa butter - smelt yummy) and used that all over my body since wednesday but only used it on my face the once, probably thursday. Could it be that? I'd also tried a new conditioner, used maybe twice before though, it was Paraben free Dead Sea Spa magic serum. (Was trying a different product to see if it'll sooth my scalp psorasis). But my scalp and body is fine, just my face that has this rash. Why would the rest of me show no reaction? The other thing it could be was that i had a prawn curry thursday. I've only ever had the occasional prawn before, never a whole meal, but I'd have thought a food allergy like that would be more instant?

I'm just splashing my face with water for now and taking clarityn tablets but am considering the drs as I've had this for three days now.

Has anyone else had similar experience of these hives? Am I doing the right thing and will it go away on it's own?

Good job it's Halloween as my face is pretty scary right now! :(

I was just thinking the same as Chucky Mama as my 18 year old DD had this last month. She woke one morning with bright red cheeks that were hot and itchy and felt bumpy. She initially took some anti-histamines which did help to ease the itching a little. Although she did also feel a little unwell it cleared up by itself in a few days. The worst thing for her was that it happened to coincide with the presentation evening at her school and she had to go up and be presented with the biology prize

Having said this, if you are worried you should talk to your doctor of course

Thanks guys.

Didn't want to freak myself out with google searches of rashes as I bet there are some humdingers out there, plus I don't think mine is that severe looking, just uncomfortable.

I've just called my docs and miracle of miracles I've got an appointment tomorrow morning! (I think they took pity on me for being on hold for forever while they rebooted their system)

Better get it checked out like you say.

Well thankfully what I've got is not as drastic as shingles or legionnaires everyone. LOL

Doc says its probably an allergic reaction but a little concerned it hadnt eased with the after 3 days so said to carry on with them and prescribed a hydrocortisone and steroid cream to help with the soreness and itching.
