chick wiggle
Just a little indulgent piccie of my little dog George has had a car seat since the day i brought him home from the rescue centre. Today, is the first photo ive actually taken of him in it. He loves it and wont sit anywhere else in the car, not even on someones lap. The reason is i got him a new harness for it yesterday, so here he is, looking very dopey, but happy Apart from the safety aspect of it, It means he can see through the window and he also curls up and goes to sleep in it too

chick wiggle
They are meant for little dogs ANH, i dont think they would be suitable for Riley. They say upto 10kg, its because dogs feel happier if they can see out the window and so it raises them up. I could only find one on that there tinternet I first saw them on a tv programme, the one with Victoria Stilwell, 'Its me or the Dog'

The Dogmother
Hmmmmm.... Wonder if they make them greyhound sized????.. You can get harnesses with seat belt attachments but I think a dog is generally safer in the boot, behind a dog-guard or in a crate.
Ain't Nobody Here
You can get harnesses with seat belt attachments I use one of those for Riley. I've never had reason to see how it works in an accident (thankfully) but he does seem very secure and comfortable in it.
Lavenders_Blue
I use a car harness for Tango too. My boot is miniscule and she wouldn't fit in (even though she's only little) and I couldn't fit a crate in my car either. Bergan car harnesses are crash tested so about as safe as you are going to get (in my opinion).
The Dogmother
I can't remember the exact wording but the legal requirement is for the dog to be restrained or confined, so harness on the back seat or crate/dog barrier in the boot. Definitely no dogs in the front. I'll never forget an RTA a few years back when it was reported in the local rag - it would have been survivable if the (unrestrained) dog hadn't been catapulted from the back seat, through the windscreen, breaking the passenger's neck on way through
chick wiggle
Omg DM, that sounds horrendous How tragic! George is too little to be put in the boot, we have a saloon car too so not really feasible He is as safe and secure in his car seat as he possibly could be and he loves been able to see out the window..............for the 5 minutes hes awake that is, after that, he usually just curls up and goes to sleep
