Hi!

I know how you feel! I only started keeping hens in Mid-October and up until a few days ago I had 3 beautiful girls who were all laying daily, 3 eggs a day over Xmas..Wonderful! Then my neighbours terrier got through a lifted fence panel that we hadn't spotted, you can imagine the rest  1 had to be PTS, 1 injured and the last 1 apparantly unharmed bar a nick to her comb, they are however both very shocked still and keeping to the coop at the moment?? Like you I am down to my last 4 eggs and will have to buy eggs again until my girls recover...no eggs have ever tasted so nice as my late Rhode Rock's !eggbrown!!eggbrown! I have no idea how long it will be before the remaining 2 start laying again so empathise with you entirely!

I have 8 girls and had been getting 4 or 5 !eggcream! a day up untill 2 days ago, I gave my last 8 !eggcream! to DD and neighbour in the knowledge I would have 4 or 5 the following day and yesterday I only got 1 !eggcream! today I did get 2. Just goes to shows you can't take them for granted.:lol::lol:

How horrible to have your girls attacked by your neighbours dog. :( I hope the remaining 2 recover soon.

Sad for your loss, hope the two survivors get well soon. My Phoebe had a major moult a few months ago now and today - first egg. Ebay had a mini moult and started laying again in the Xmas break. I wasn't expecting them to start again until Spring. I had to buy supermarket eggs and even though organic, free range not a patch on my girls eggs. Yes we are spoilt!

Mine went through a "light" spell for a few weeks when a couple of them were moulting and the dark nights really set in but they are laying as well as ever now and I have a huge glut of eggs. Hopefully yours will be back to normal soon, especially as the days are getting longer now.

Sorry to hear about the attack.

Louise decided to moult a month ago so times have been lean. I had to perform "the walk of shame" to buy eggs just before Christmas. Luckily, a friend in the village has a flock of 30! She found it most amusing. I'm blaming Delia - too much cooking from her Christmas book.....................
