chestnutmare
Willow had a few days off laying which is not like her (or any of them) so I've been concerned about her. But I've noticed quite a few feathers in the although the girls themselves don't look like their on a molt. Really though, do they have to molt now?! It's January and tis coooold! WitchHazel
One of mine is moulting, silly girl. The others were mostly finished by Christmas.
chestnutmare
Silly girls, what are they like? It's pretty chilly out there. They are locked in their Eglu every night so they'll still be warm, plus a bit of Poultry Spice and Citricidal makes this chicken owner feel better. Guest
I've got one too! It looks like they have a duvet fight in the Eglu every night - with the duvet losing!
alet_chicken
5 of mine (all ex-batts) decided to have a coordinated moult just after Christmas. They look terrible, poor dears, and must be feeling the cold. They look even worse than their 4 new ex-batt friends (who arrived the week before Christmas). percy049
Check that the loss of feathers isn't due to bullying or lice. One of my hens is moulting now
Space Chick
I have a few mini moulters too
chestnutmare
LOL - I think the duvet here is losing too! I can rule out bullying because I spend enough time watching them. I will be shocked if it's lice, to say the least, because their dust bath is regularly topped up with louse powder and they are dustbathing. I will give them a check over on the weekend though, just incase. I get my OH to hold them and I check and powder them, this is useful with a Columbine too. SC, maybe we have something in the air here!
