Hetty and Hilda
My mother hen Hetty has not been laying now since the beginning of October, she started moulting around then that combined with the winter months and she refused to lay. Tuesdays is clean the chickens day for me as it's normally a day off work the girls are left to explore the garden while I’m busy cleaning up the eglu. But today when I go outside I find Hetty very chatty and looking like she wants to draw my attention to something then when I open the eglu from the back ..................AN EGG!!! finally she looked so pleased with herself "Look what I did" she kept squawking to me. So I treated her to a homemade mealworm and seed bar made suing a little suet melted then adding the seeds corn and mealworm them letting it set again. And to top it all of I used it this afternoon to make a cake and it was a double yolk! She’s such a good girl is our Hetty
