chuckmum6
I'm sad tonight as one of my favourite girls has got to be put down. Sage is a real character was always right behind me when ever I went out. She has been lame for two weeks now and hasn't improved at all. She has had brief bouts of lameness before and after a couple of days rest on her own she has recovered, but this didn't work this time. I took her to the vet last week, there is no sign of break or inflammation, she was given a shot of anti inflammatory and antibiotics, she just stood there quietly preening herself, a very relaxed hen. She isn't happy in my hospital ark all on her own, but can't cope with the others. A week on she is no better at all and is losing weight, so I have come to the decision to cull her. I will really miss my little shadow.
Ain't Nobody Here
That's a shame . I'm sure you're doing the right thing though, best not to let her suffer .
chuckmum6
Thanks, we have just said goodbye to her, I have explained to my YS that this is a responsibility and a hard element of animal care - to prevent suffering. Always a painful one though.
