Fur 'n' Feathers
How quick was that!!! My order from Radflex turned up this morning ...so guess that's my next job We ordered ours last Thursday night and it arrived on Saturday, despite the delivery date saying from7th onwards. They seem to be really efficient (like the reflectors ).
The Dogmother
He also mentioned that the system may need cleaning out [not sure what that means or involves] Are your radiators cold at the bottom of the middle of the radiator? I am assuming - from what he said - that they are silted up and need jetting out. They will drain the system, take off each rad., take it outside and jet it out. Fur 'n' Feathers
He also mentioned that the system may need cleaning out [not sure what that means or involves] Are your radiators cold at the bottom of the middle of the radiator? I am assuming - from what he said - that they are silted up and need jetting out. They will drain the system, take off each rad., take it outside and jet it out. One or two of ours get cold patches occasionally when they need burping!!! Just get a rad key and try easing the rad valve a little to let the air out. If it is air in the rad you'll hear it escaping and when it's all expelled a little jet of water will shoot out (have a tissue handy). If it jets water immediately then it is a blockage. Try this first as it won't cost anything. The rad will go hot immediately the air is released if it is the problem.
The Dogmother
If your rads are cold at the top then bleed them as described above, if they are cold at the bottom then your system needs jetting. I received my panels today. Oddly the adhesive strips came in a separate package
superkitty
Ours arrived today - now just need to find the time to fit them
Eggasperated
Using a pair of scissors, tape measure, mirror and Lakeland feather duster thing, after 1 hour I have finally managed to fit one radiator with Radflek . It appears that not only are our radiators close to the wall, the brackets are also wonky and the height of the skirting boards then makes it impossible to slide the Radflek down all the way. I dare OH to say I haven't done it properly .
Guest
I did some radiators last night - I have one left to do! I had trouble getting it down behind and have just remembered that I have a radiator duster - will try and poke it down with that! But pleased with the product - easy to fit - simple idea! It all adds up!
Eggasperated
I obviously chose the worst radiator to do first , done three more in under an hour - much easier.

Fortunately we by chance chose to do the most difficult radiator last. It was also fitted over the skirting so we couldn't get the sheet right down initially. We just trimmed the depth to come just above it and all was sorted. Glad to see it's working out for folks.
Couperwife
I've been fitting mine today too really easy, and I'm sure the lounge is a lot warmer since I put the sheet behind it, our rooms are always cold, it's now rather toasty I ordered the biggest pack from amazon, with the idea that I would share it with mum and dad when they got their new house I think I'm going to have plenty left, I've done 3 radiators with 3 sheets Cathy X

Glad it's helping. We are -3degrees at present (were -8 last night!)and the rad thermostats haven't needed to be increased from where we put them down to. Our house is feeling generally cosier where the cold spots were as well. The 2 cold rooms would have been belting out on 6 before and are now no higher than 4. We put our fingers down between the sheets and thew wall and the wall is stone cold, which shows how much they deflect back into the room. Guest
I did the last rad today - I'd left it because it looked the trickiest and it just slipped down behind like a treat! typical! I got my radiator duster out and sorted out the two others that would not go down the other night! Behind one I found a baby sock!!! gulp!! it was so tiny! Showed it to my son - he insisted it wasn't his! Note to self - *dust radiators more often*..........said son is now 12!
Old Speckled Hen
Thanks Fur 'n' Feathers Spotted this thread via another. Our radiators are large and high we would need two 10 packs so I went looking elsewhere. I ended up with a roll of insulating foil from ebay for £9.00 post free and eight dowel rods for a couple of quid. hubby and I did all the rads in an hour and I'm amazed at the difference. The walls are cool and the rooms are toasty warm. Wonderful!!! We still have half the roll left
The Dogmother
I still haven't found the time to install mine - been very busy today so am relaxing in my PJs with the newspapers.... another day.
Lewis
I bought some off ebay too and I did notice a difference! That coupled with a new double duvet and am finally warm in my room - thanks!
Saronne
This may be a silly question... My rads don't have the old-fashioned gaps - they're more of a 'one piece' construction. Will the reflectors still do their job? Saronne
The Dogmother
I think so Saronne; the reflectors are supposed to fit between the rads and the wall.
Saronne
Thanks Dogmother. I guess heat rises so not having the old-fashioned 'gaps' doesn't really matter then? I'm presuming the reflectors will reflect heat up and away from the wall (?)
The Dogmother
Double panelled rads provide increased surface area and hence more heat, same with those rads that have the concertina thing in the middle. The reflectors are to stop the heat from going back out through the wall and they reflect it into the room - hence their description. The Dogmother
Well, an hour and a half and only a few mild cuss words later, I have fitted all but one radiator with reflectors (anyone got a spare sheet?). It was pretty easy for anyone brought up on Blue Peter and the only thing I'd suggest is that you get an adult to help if you need to use the sticky strips to join 2 lengths - the tape is VERY strongly adhesive and it pays to get it right first time. The dogs enjoyed helping Can't tell yet if it has worked as I have the stove pouring out heat and the heating has gone off as it's warm enough in here (19deg)
Jules.
We have just fitted ours today, hubby ordered them without seeing this thread ( although I remember reading it & not telling him about it. Oops) We got 20% off a pack & so paid £12 odd including postage, the offer was through the Martin Lewis money saving expert site which hubby is fond of reading. Already we feel warmer
Fur 'n' Feathers
Just caught up with all the posts. Seems like it's been really helpful. Glad that everyone is feeling a difference. Can't always assume that what one person experiences is the whole story but this product really does seem to wotk. Thanks for all the feedback. chickweed
I have just got around to putting this stuff behind my radiators, I bought it last year and seeing the weather forecast has spurred me on. Hope it works. Phew, I'm shattered.
Charlottechicken
I have had something similar for the past few years, and although I didn't notice cheaper bills, the house is warmer for the same price.
