Beyond chicken mum duties

Recommended Posts

There is a thread going on a House Rabbit forum about the extreme lengths we mums going to

to keep our bunnies happy.

Id thought it would be interesting to see what lengths us chicken mums go to.

I was out at 9pm last night mixing Bio Dry into the runs bedding so when they got up the dust had settled.

Fran boks at around 4ish as it is scratch corn time - like a fool i go running with a hand full.

I had a broody last year that was hatching her babies out and when i went down the garden a little chick had fallen out of the door into the rain and was practically not breathing so i ran into the house with it warmed it up using the low setting on my hairdryer and then tucked it down my bra  and left it there why i sat on the sofa watching waterloo road after about an hour it was cheeping its head off and dry enough for me to take it back to its momma and tuck it under her wing my family couldnt believe what they were seeing but i dont care  leanne.

That's a lovely story miller30. I've not done anything like that but I do make my chickens warm porridge every morning when there has been a frost at night, and clear any snow from around their house in the morning so they don't have to put their little tootsies in it. Fingers crossed that is all over for another year. I also sit them on my lap in the kitchen and dry them with a hair drier if it is getting near their bed time and they are wet.

Oh I'm always doing things for my girls...often once they've gone to bed so it's pretty much in the dark! I've dragged branches back in the wind and rain whilst walking the dog, I hang greens, rake the floor of the WIR and sprinkle Stalosan, all by the light of the wall lights in the Conservatory  and I too let them out in the mornings while I'm wearing my dressing gown, just as it's getting light
