How exciting - 48 is a lot, what sorts have you got in there :D

Chicks survive for 24 hours (and longer) on what they are still digesting from being in the egg, and with that number of eggs you don't want to be opening the incy every 5 mins as the humidity/temp will be going up and down. Also, when a chick hatches after a short while it will start clambering over everything and chirping its head off. This is supposed to encourage the others :D

So, if I were you, I'd sit tight and watch today and I might transfer a batch over this evening, checking they are doing OK in the brooder (with water and chick crumb) before I went to bed if there were several already to go. If the chick is still on its own by tonight, then I'd do it tomorrow morning because hopefully by then it will have a few others to play with. As long as the chick is fluffy and dry it will be OK to transfer.

Keep us posted 8)

Wow - that sounds like a fabulous mix, you'll have some beautiful birds out of that lot, and a great mix of colours and shapes :D Good Luck 8)
