Alis girls
YS's school has hatched chicks about 2 weeks ago. YS was telling me that 2 are boys and the rest girls. he said the teacher knew cos some where yellow and some grey. Is this right, I was slightly unsure -i didnt think it went on colour. Henslaved
I suppose it depends on the breed as apparently some you can tell at chick stage and the teacher knows his/her stuff OR the kids were asking questions the teacher couldn't answer so he/she just made one up . Tweety
If they are an autosexing breed such as Cream Legbar, the chicks can be sexed according to their colour.
Daphne
Also, if they are sex-linked they can be sexed according to colour However, most of this type of linkage that I am aware of give yellow and darker buff chicks rather than grey/yellow.
