Small Wardrobes???

Recommended Posts

Hi, just moved into a new house which is lovely but has no storage space. The master bedroom is on the 2nd floor (in the roof) and has sloping walls. I am looking for a wardrobe that is no more than 130cm tall, otherwise it will stand too far out from the wall. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

I normally post to be positive but .... we had a similar problem with our new house, although we had a height of 150cm. There are small wardrobes around but all I looked at exceed your 130cm. I think as others have suggested pay for a joiner to build bespoke storage for you. In the end we gave up and put full size wardrobes in a spare bedroom :( Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

only problem is the cost with bespoke wardrobes as I will only be here for 3-4 years and can't leave them here when I leave. The joys of military life eh!

I've been looking at adapting the canvas ones, not my first choice but would be easily modified I think! A little bit of sawing and sewing and they should be ok.

Do you think this idea would work?

How about just putting up a hanging rail and having pretty curtains in front of them? You couldthen use plastice drawer type thingys at the bottom for bits and bobs!

Was just going to suggest that very thing! I have deep alcoves in my house and have fitted a rail in one, and have curtain track fitted along the front of a shelf just above. Cheapest wardrobe in the world!

I think my rail is actually an old sanded curtain pole but I have had other metal rails around the house from Wickes, although you can probably pick them up from any DIY place. They cut easily with a hacksaw too!
