NannyOgg
I am planning ahead (OCD? Me? Never ) for any chicks resulting from Sprinkle's efforts, and as I plan to move all the girls onto Garvo, having read such good things about it, I am now in a dilemma - do I feed regular chick crumb with ACS, or do I put them straight onto Garvo Chick mini pellets? I hate choices
sjp
you can put them straight onto mini chick pellets (702 ) or the 701 mash.I've just moved mine onto growers pellets from 702 but I start mine of on medicated chick crumb after I lost 2 of my first broody to cocci
NannyOgg
Yes, that's my dilemma really - do I give them the medicated or the Garvo If only they did the Garvo with ACS
Parsley
A friend who uses Garvo on her adults tried the chick crumb but found it a bit rich and gave her chicks very sticky bottoms She switched to Fancy Feed. I use medicated as I don't want to take any chances. Wendy Edited April 8, 2012 by Guest
NannyOgg
Hmm, that's interesting - thanks Parsley - I must say, sticky bottoms are not top of my wish list
Redwing
I am a huge Garvo fan but I do use medicated chick crumb for the first couple fo weeks then move to the fancy chick mini pellets apart from anything I find that very young chicks dont take to pellets very easily no matter how small and the first days are so vital that I dont like to run any risk of chicks not eating so I give them chick crumb in shallow dishes big enough to root around in and just accept that there will be some wastage
sandyhas3chucks
should I used medicated for my 6 weekers. breeder said use coxoid after one week. but medicated crumb souds a good idea.. thanks
sjp
coxoid should only be used as a treatment I only used medicated chick crumb until they are about 6-8 weeks old then they get non medicated growers pellets
