Citronella Oil......advice please

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has already been discussed.................think rain has got to brain :roll:

I've read in various other posts that people are using Citronella oil.........are you using it to keep the files away :?: Do the chooks mind the smell :?: How are you applying it :?: and where do you get it from :?:

When I revamp the chook area in 2 weeks time, I am going to change to use aubiose and I think this works well with citronella oil :?:

Thanks :D:D

Sorry to sound really dumb but what sort of citronella oil do you use? Is it like essential oil? I buy Citronella oil for the burner thingies in the garden but I'm thinking this is not the right stuff for the girls.

I just use the essential oil from Holland and Barrett, do the same thing, bit in the aubiose, bit on some tissue tucked under the run shade if there seem to be a few flies lurking. My girls bedroom smells like a tarts boudoir most of the time, what with the red mite powder and a few drops of cintonella

For those people interested in putting a few drips of citronella oil on the roosting bars to stop flies or even on tissue under the Omlet Cover to keep them away from the run. This is where I bought mine... It was a really good service and includes postage

I bought some & it came the next day! I put a few drops onto some kitchen roll under the shade, along with some eucalyptus oil I bought form a local discount store for 99p. I also sprinkle a few drops of each on the roosting bars
