jackian
We went on holiday last week to Gran Canaria leaving my girls home alone (well not quite) I was really concerned about their care while away as you all know "Ooops, word censored!"ody looks after our girls as well as us . I made arrangements for the 20 year old lad next door to look after them ,He was paid £40 ,(which I thought was enough ) to come in each morning before he went to work to make sure that the coups were depooped ,and make sure the girls were fed and watered....That's all he had to do !!!!He works in the pet shop in the village and keeps all types of lizards etc.,...You would have thought he would have been capable wouldn't you My daughter would be up each afterrnoon to check on them again and to give them a bit of TLC and to FR them.We went Wednesday lunchtime and he was to come in Thursday morning. My daughter texted me Thursday afternoon ..He had not been in He said he thought he was to start Friday. He saw us leave for the airport Wednesday lunchtime. He came in Friday overslept on Saturday so left it Saturday ,came in the rest of the week except Tuesday ,Thank goodness I had my daughter coming in . 1. I am disappointed in him 2. glad I got a back up and most of all feel let down and as guilty as well, what if "Ooops, word censored!"ody else was coming in? .It does not bear thinking about
Clucking_Mad
Oh bless ya Jackian it was a good job you had a back up plan. It's awful that you paid him to look after the girls and he didn't do it, I think I would be inclined to ask for the money back and never ask him again to look after the girls. I'm glad they are ok though and your daughter was there to help. Laura x
mimi5
Oh dear! What a a worry, but as you say good job you weren't reliant on that one person!!!!! We are hoping to get a way for a few days later on this year, but had already been worrying about the pekins and who to trust with their care???? Will have to get on the case now! Glad all is well now, you'll just have to put it down to experience!
House MD 221B
I agree, I would be asking for my money back, he failed to deliver the services for which he was paid in accordance with a verbal contract. It would also make me worry for the other animals in his care. Someone needs a lesson in responsibility. But glad you had a back up plan And I'm glad they were ok, cus it's always a worry when you go away
jackian
We decided to pay him the money before we went as my OH thought it would make him more responsible. It was supposed to be £35 but I did not have any change ..It is only the second time we have left the girls since we have had them and I admit I am glad I had a back up . I usually shut the coop door every night but decided to leave it open while away in case he was late going round seeing as I usually let them out into the WIR about 6.30..Goodness knows what would have happened if I had shut the door...And there was me worriued about foxes ...A lovely holiday with lots of warmth but It is nice to be home. IanT
I wouldn't ask for the money back as they are neighbours after all and it's best to get on etc. However, you do know not to ask him again!
Cheeky Chooky
I agree about not asking for the money back...just to keep some harmony What a good job your daughter was there to be relied upon
amys garden
Jakian that's awfull! And so disappointing... You'd think working in a pet shop hed understand the importance of routine when looking after animals I guess any of us doing the same should pay after the Holliday £40 is a nice little amount for not a lot of work on his part I'd be furious! So glad your daughter was around I've got the same dilemah an didn't want to leave the job to my neighbours daughter I've got my friend and partner and four littlens to come and house sit They live in Stockport (near Manchester ) I live on the south coast near Brighton So it's a Win Win situation They get a free Holliday and we get pet sitters who have animal experience (she breeds guineas ) I'm v relived phew! Our lovey local hen place Martins Wood do a Hennery but it just the extra bill .... Hope all is settled with you now
