Are we just unlucky are does this happen to everyone!

Recommended Posts

Just got back from Argos with a set of shelves to build.

Guess what...........unpacked them and two of the pieces are damaged.

The highly expensive wood effect 'wallpaper' is peeling off the classy woodchip backing boards and there a several undrilled dowel holes, It is utterly rubbish. Even a chimpanzee wouldn't have packed damaged goods and expect people to be happy. The damage looks unlikely to have been caused after it was packed.

Everything we have bought recently has either had something missing or something broken, including our Cube (missing parts)

To Omlets credit they quickly resolved the matter, we will see how Argos perform tomorrow.

It's just so annoying to get something home and only to find that it is itter shut.

Rant over!

Kev.

that always happens to our stuff e.g bought a sofa bed and taken it out the packaging and it had a big chip down the wooden bit, returned it and the next one had a cushion missing, returned that one and they had none left!

another time we bought a mirror and that was broke too.

I once ordered a melamine tray (with a chicken design) from M&S.

It wasn't available in our local M&S so I ordered it via the internet. When it arrived it was broken - large crack all the way through it and a chunk missing from the corner. I phoned M&S customer services and not only did they not apologise I was told I either had to return the damaged tray via the post office being sure to wrap it carefully as they couldn't accept any responsibility for goods damaged during the return :shock::shock::shock: or I could take it back to one of their stores. I've never experienced this before as on the very very are occasion I have received a damaged item I have firstly received an apology andwas then told I could just throw away the item. I was then told that I would only receive a refund for the cost of the tray but not for the postage I had been charged for the tray to be sent and as they were now out of stock of the tray they couldn't send me a replacement but if I wanted a replacement they suggested I phoned again in 2 weeks time when, if they were in stock, I could order another one and yes I would have to pay postage again for the replacement item to be resent as it would be classed as a new order and they were currently out of stock :shock::shock::shock: In the end after numureous discussions with supervisors and managers I was offered free delivery on a replacement 'as a gesture of goodwill' as long as I quoted a code when I rang back in 2 weeks time to see if they the trays were back in stock.

To say I was outraged would have been an understatement.:shock::shock::evil::evil::evil:

We've had problems with the flat pack kits so many times that I am now that mad woman, opening the box in the car park, instructions in one hand, pen in the other, counting out every bolt that's meant to be there and making sure nothing is damaged BEFORE I've driven back home again!

Good luck with getting it sorted.

I did an internet order with M&S for last Christmas, & bought some lovely candles for both SIL's. They arrived slightly damaged at the top, the wax had been bashed in transit so they were not suitable for pressies. I phoned M&S up, got told to keep the candles & they sent me out two more straight away! I kept one bashed one & gave the other to my friend- you couldn't see the bash when the candle was turned around. At £12 apiece they were not exactly cheap, but the customer service I got was great.

Having said that.... I used one of their offer vouchers for extra &More points on my credit card later on to buy some twiggy lights, I got free p&p & an extra 600 points. As there was no description of the actual size of the lights, I ordered both the small & large ones to see which looked best in my home. I kept the bigger & more expensive lights & returned the others to my local store. Guess what- my extra points did not materialise, & when I phoned M&S it was because I had returned part of my order  It took a few phone calls to them to actually get them to understand WHY i had ordered the lights in both sizes, & to have the points credited to my account :?

BTW, my phone provider does not charge me for my phone calls unless they are to mobiles or those national numbers like 0870, 0845 etc. I use www.saynoto0870.com to find alternative numbers to phone call centres

When we were 'staging' our last house to sell it, I bought a cheap pine shelf unit from B&Q for the bathroom. I built it up, using the pre-drilled holes, but when I looked at the finished product, it bore a distinct resemblance to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Gutted, I put it in the bathroom anyway, intending to trail ivy over the edges to try and disquise the 'lean', only to discover that the walls were so wonky in the bathroom (old miners cottage, built before they discovered right angles and vertical walls), that the unit slotted in very nicely indeed, as the 'lean' matched the 'lean' in the wall!

I hate flat packs!! lol I can remember a few years ago buying a flat pack TV and Video cabinet only to find after a long struggle to assemble it myself I had a piece of wood left over???

I never did find out where it came from ..can only assume that some poor person had a pack with a piece missing!
