New type of credit card fraud

Recommended Posts

Thanks ANH. I had a fraud call from my credit card company earlier this week. Not like this one, but alerting me to the fact that someone tried to spend £1600 on jewellery using my card! They spotted it straight away and declined the payment so I'm now waiting for a new card. I would love to know how they got my card number though

It scares me the amount of people who come to my till & have their PIN written down on their shopping list or in their purse :roll:

LOADS don't even bother to sign their cards anymore either,which means it is not valid & should it be the 1 in 80 that is a spot check signature check,can't be accepted.

People are daft :roll::lol:

It always amazes me the number of folks who stand well back from the card reader and them key in their PIN for all and sundry to see; I always cover my hand and am very careful.

My card was cloned last year, must have been online as I don't use it for anything else, they called to ask me if I'd spent £4,000 in a restaurant in Kilburn (or was it Bethnal Green? :think: ) I told them you could buy a restaurant in that area for £4k!

This astounds me too. I always have my purse in my hand and use it to cover over the numbers. Trouble is, some machines have a very deep shield around them, and then you can't see the numbers :roll::lol:

I still can't believe though that people will still give their pin out over the phone. That is a very cheeky scam though.
