I'm pretty sure I wouldn't fall for this but there are probably plenty of people who might be scared into thinking it was genuine. Worth mentioning to anyone you think might be susceptible.

Thanks ANH. I had a fraud call from my credit card company earlier this week. Not like this one, but alerting me to the fact that someone tried to spend £1600 on jewellery using my card! They spotted it straight away and declined the payment so I'm now waiting for a new card. I would love to know how they got my card number though

Never give your PIN to anyone, not even your bank, only you should know it.

It scares me the amount of people who come to my till & have their PIN written down on their shopping list or in their purse

LOADS don't even bother to sign their cards anymore either,which means it is not valid & should it be the 1 in 80 that is a spot check signature check,can't be accepted.

It always amazes me the number of folks who stand well back from the card reader and them key in their PIN for all and sundry to see; I always cover my hand and am very careful.

 

My card was cloned last year, must have been online as I don't use it for anything else, they called to ask me if I'd spent £4,000 in a restaurant in Kilburn (or was it Bethnal Green? ) I told them you could buy a restaurant in that area for £4k!

This astounds me too. I always have my purse in my hand and use it to cover over the numbers. Trouble is, some machines have a very deep shield around them, and then you can't see the numbers

 

I still can't believe though that people will still give their pin out over the phone. That is a very cheeky scam though.
