Ages ago, my daughter pulled her earring whilst sleeping.

Although she didn't rip it clean out it has made the hole a lot longer and now the earring doesn't sit in the right place. It's too low down now.

She has left the earring out for quite a while now hoping the hole would close up and she went to see her nurse at Uni who said she shouldn't have had them done so young. She was 11

 

Does anyone know what's the best thing to do ?

I have done the same with my left ear,I have been wearing very light sleepers in the day

and taking the out at night, Also taking them out totally at weekends.

Eleven isnt young by todays standards - I see babies with them. years ago a friends ear lobes holes split totally cos she wore danglies. They were repaired on NHS. I think its unlikely the NHS would do that now. I dont know how long they take to close up esp if they were done some yrs back. Might be worth asking her Dr to see if can be repaired but you might have to foot bill yourself.

My 16 year old daughter had her's pierced about 8 months ago and wore an earring that managed to pull the hole down resulting in one hole being lower than the other. It doesn't look too bad but she is thinking of letting it heal and having it re pierced in time if it bothers her enough.

I think thats what she will have to do.

She has been doing a pirate impression now for almost a year and I think she is a bit fed up with it.

I bet if you didn't want it to close up it would have done it in a matter of weeks

I know, it is typical isn't it. I am fully expecting it healing over- or not, to be an issue

Rosie had one which healed up after a similar incident, she had it re-pierced but some places weren't happy to do it as it involved going through the scar tissue from the original (healed) piercing.

Thats what i'm worried about, It's healed a little bit but when i wear a heavy earring

i can see it pulling.

Oooer, it doesn't seem like much can be done then.

We thought maybe the doctor might be able to suggest something, so we'll have to wait and see.

I had my ears pierced at 15, didn't wear earrings much though, and now haven't worn any for about 5 years - still got the holes

It seems that they only heal over if you don't want them to

You can get support plasters on Amazon, I haven't tried them but i get the idea is to leave a

light earring in and the the plaster supports it at the back.

A few years ago my DD was mugged and had her earing ripped out.

She did go to the GP and eventually had it repaired on the NHS.

She did have to wait a long time but it is now fine. hope this helps and reassures you, something can be done.

She said the nurse gave her some funny plasters, so maybe we will give them a try.

Boots sells anti-scarring/healing plasters; might be worth a try.

I think i might try the plasters, I put some earrings in tonight and the torn one is still lower.
