jjmack
Couple of things I could do with some advice with please! Boobs ...... I hit 40 a few weeks ago and my cycles have been a bit of a nightmare for the last year (3 children in, but have been to Dr about those and hoping to get them sorted) but over the last few months my boobs have been so painful a week or so the period is due, tonight they are so sore and have decided i need to do something about it. I seem to remember my mum saying something about evening primrose ....any hints tips etc gratefully received, Bras ...... my 12 (almost 13) year old is beginning to develop and I think I am going to have to get her some bras, where do I start? Do I measure her myself or take her to M and S. i want to get it right, I can't remember what my mum did with me! Thank you
clucker1
On the bra front so to speak, Marks and Spencer do angel bras, for teens. They are very good, you can take her along for a fitting or grab several and try them at home. On the evening primrose bit, sorry haven't a clue....will be interested to see what the replies are. From a 40 and a bit year old with a 14 year old daughter.
Chucky Mama
I seem to remember New Look having a good selection of bras for those just developing.
jjmack
Wouldn't even have thought to look in New Look! Think I need to take her shopping ... bet we end up with more than a bra or 2!
jjmack
Just done a quick search and it seems that evening promsorse can help. It also says that hormonal IUDs can help. This is something the DR is hoping will help with the other issues, however when I went to have it fitted they couldn't do it due to my anatomy (won't go into detail!)so might have to be referred to gynaecologist to get one fitted which is a pain. i suppose though if it helps with sore breasts too it might be worth pursuing. Any experience of this helping?
lillybettybabs
Try starflower oil for pms symptoms.
munkee1965
M&S is the best place for teen bras, they offer a great measuring and fitting service. Evening Primrose and Starflower Oil are both said to be good for achy boobs.
Chucky Mama
Wouldn't even have thought to look in New Look! Think I need to take her shopping ... bet we end up with more than a bra or 2! We did a combo of New Look & M&S. DD has still not forgiven me for calling someone into the changing room in M & S to measure her. bluekarin
Boobs ...... I hit 40 a few weeks ago and my cycles have been a bit of a nightmare for the last year (3 children in, but have been to Dr about those and hoping to get them sorted) but over the last few months my boobs have been so painful a week or so the period is due Oh I hear you loud and clear. Same for me (I hit the for oh last December). I never used to have this problem, but now...... I'd love to hear if evening primrose oil helps. I have heard it helps with PMS, but didn't know anything about it helping with sore boobs. New Look have some lovely bras in, and M&S have some nice ones in for teens too. Not sure what NL would be like re fitting. Previous posts about fitting for women seemed to go for Debenhams, so maybe give them a try? Duncan08
I'm 43 and my cycle is now wonderful aftre 27 years of problems Erratic periods, bleeds every few days then nothing for 8 months then severe flu like symptons, all hormonal, Extreme aches and pains and boobs needed holding and cuddiling - not by anyone else - just me. Anyway, 6 years ago had an implorin (SP?) implant and it has completely changed my life. Anyway, what I am trying to say is, everyone is extremely different in the way they react to "traditional" and "homeopathic" medication for hormonal issues. I have spent many years trying them and meeting people that have also tried many of them. I much prefer the non drug solutions, but they were not effective for me, this implant is pretty much the only drug I have. (Well except the odd glass of wine, and I am looking forward to the Elderflower Champagne, and a G&T is always nice) Chemical intervention drug shall I say. Try out the homeopathy remedies first, many of them have some good reviews and are certainly worthwhile, but if it continues go and find a lady gyny, I had a man for years, and years, and the lady cracked the problem in one consultation. Any experience of this helping? Same with me - I am on my second Mirena (wonderful thing) I went to the clinic to have it fitted and the nurse "who does it all the time" couldn't! - but the gynecologist managed it in seconds. Much prefer going to the specialists than the GP too.
freddie
we started out at primark and new look for bras, as DD didnt really have much to go in them, honestly!, and they were good, washed well, and didn't rub(and were reasonably priced! re the other, been there. have Mirena for other reasons, and it's a godsend. I know not everyone gets on with them, but I certainly do. On my last one now, as I'll be 53 when it goes, and that should do it. I hope Good luck with whatever you choose to do.XX
Alis girls
get yourself measured too as you may find breast pain agrivated by ill fitting bra or underwires another culprit.
Yorkshire Pudding
get yourself measured too as you may find breast pain agrivated by ill fitting bra or underwires another culprit. Was just going to say the same - I get monthly achy boobs too (and am 43 and coming to the end of my first Mirena, will have one more and that should do it!). Getting measured for a bra by a proper fitter (no tape measures, all done by eye) has made everything much more comfortable and got rid of my backache too. HarrisonFamily
I am nearly 40 and have very sore boobs....evening primrose is great..as long as I remember to take it my boobs are fine only problem is I now have no warning sign that period is about to start.... Also for very heavy periods found using a moon cup great....once you get past the gross factor..most comfortable, leak free, environmentally friendly and saves money
ClaireG
I've had my Mirena for about a month now and it does seem to be helping. I'm 43. I also take a womans health tablet (supermarket own brand) that contains both Primrose and Starflower oils and my boobs do seem less achy. I know not everyone likes it but I am a fan.
