One of my Pekins, Astrid, had an absolute fit of noisiness earlier - she started squawking in a mad fashion at about half past seven and scared the life out of me! We've had the girls for 3 weeks now and they've been very quiet til now - have I got a noisy Pekin or could this be a one-off?

Not sure if it's a one off or not, maybe something scared her, a bird flying over maybe. I do have one girl, Gertie, who regulularly has a noisy five minutes, I always go dashing out to check but there doesn't seem to be any reason. I say to her what's the matter and she then reverts to chatting to me, she makes me smile. :)

Sometimes a couple of mine do this and it is usually an alarm call...not often something to be worried about just maybe a sound or something they have not heard or seen before.

Other times it is because they just want attention ,once one starts the others join in."Give us a treat or we will scream louder  "

But all ways worth checking .
