Ebay problems

Recommended Posts

Sigh,

I bought some china on ebay and it turned up lightly wrapped in kitchen towel in a sweetie cardboard box  unsurprisingly most of the china is broken :( . I've contacted the seller asking for a refund and I know I can go the paypal/ebay complaints route if necessary but it's hassle I don't need and I cannot fathom why they thought it survive the post wrapped like that.

I've bought well over 1000 times on ebay. In 99% of cases everything has been great. Over 13+ years, I probably don't need both hands to count the number of times it's gone horribly wrong.

I find a 'firm but friendly' email pointing out the problem usually gets things sorted. If not, then the only route is the ebay complaints procedure, which is very much, these days, in favour of the buyer, so I'd expect you'd get your money back

People ore SO stupid sometimes

I too have had badly packaged things sent to me that have arrived broken.

Firstly,get photographic evidence.

Off to send this to the seller,or attach it to an email to them anyhow,so that they know you are not trying to pull a fast one.

Give them a couple of days tp respond to your message to them, then start eBay complaints proceedings against them - they will find in your favour.

Leave the seller negative feedback ,but only after eBay have found in your favour - other eBayers deserve to know that they may be dealing with one of the stupidest people on the planet :lol:

This is what is so frustrating, the china was lovely and I paid plenty for P&P. How could they think a layer of kitchen towel and a sweetie box would be sufficient

OH bought a framed medal group ages ago on eBay and thanks to poor packaging the frame was broken, glass shattered and the medals in a heap of broken glass at the bottom of the box getting scratched :x I signed for the package but thankfully put a comment about the poor condition (it was in a royal mail plastic bag with damaged sticker on it  ). I took photos of every stage of unwrapping the box. After a bit of erm, heated negotiating OH got a partial but acceptable refund. The seller was an antiques dealer so should've known better.

Good luck xxx

I was recently sent a photograph frame (inc glass!) in an ordinary envelope. When I advised the seller that the glass arrived in a number of pieces she was surprised but did refund  !!! Somwtimes I do wonder what planet people are on (as my Mum would say.....'don't know if they are on this earth or Fullers'! )

As long as you have photos and are firm with the seller you should be fine  !

Didn't know I could freeze payment with paypal. That's useful to know thanks. The seller sorted me a full refund this morning no problems. They are going to lodge a complaint with royal mail :lol: so not convinced they have learnt anything.

Ha! after me saying there's hardly ever any problems, I've had a woman today refusing to sell to me because she doesn't want the item to go to me??! (a buyer who had already paid and has almost 1000 positive feedback). Guess she wants to resell it for more money. Not impressed!

Can she actually do that  ? Surely she's entered into a contract with you :? .

Good question. Legally, no. Do I want to sue her over a M&S vest top? not really

She opened an ebay 'request to cancel' thingy which i declined

Ebay advised me to call her. Expecting to get nowhere I did. She doesn't want 'the hassle of dealing with me' and put the phone down

I am probably disproportionately annoyed about this

Open a claim against her, report her as a seller who is refusing to sell, then leave her negative feedback, telling others what she has done.

If you cancel the transaction, you lose the ability to leave feedback for her.

Alternatively, just Paypal her the payment & let her make the next move......

Has she any reason to not be bothered to deal with you?

Have you had dealings with her in the past or do you have some negs?

If you need some more help or want me to look at the seller / sale for you, just drop me a pm :D

Thanks Cinnamon :)

No have never dealt with her before, I have 994 100% positive feedback. I paid for the item straightaway and she refunded it :/

So no idea what her problem is!

Have left negative feedback and opened a 'seller non-performance' complaint.

I'm currently having problems with a customer on ebay who bought an item from me back in May, said he'd be in touch to arrange collection (he lives about an hour away and says that he comes by here often), I have sent various Ebay messages, and emailed him. Today I requested his contact info (not yet received) so that I can call him. If he doesn't now want it then I'll refund him and re-list but will leave negative feedback.

Sadly you won't be able to neg him,as you are the seller.

What you need to do,now imho,is start non paying bidder proceedings.

The email the buyer gets sent is often enough to kick them into action & if not you are at least one step closer to getting your fees back anyhow.
