Autumn Feltie Swap?

Recommended Posts

I can't wait to have a go! Hoping Sunday I might get a bit of time. I haven't got a sushi mat though - but do have plenty of bubble wrap. I'd like to be able to make a scene or needle felt onto it. I have got a needle felting kit. :D

I will definitely need a few lessons from Lesley I think though. I had a go years back ~& the felt didn't felt properly. Heck!

Oy you cheeky mare!!! Do you fancy doing a shift here? Was up well before 8 having a cuppa & going round feeding the pigs, the chickens & checking on the sheep! Yippee felting - good because I need something to craft today, now the shows are over. Plus it's going to rain at 5ish. I have everything except a sushi mat, so will use bubble wrap.

You're all mad........

I'm here in the Isle of Wight - felting stuff is still packed though until it rains........ and I'm not cutting up my best holiday knickers!

I have a 3G dongle with me but would you believe.......we don't have ANY mobile reception on either of the networks we use  - it might as well be Outer Mongolia!!!!! I've spent 2 weeks chatting with my daughter and family in Turkey but can't get reception here!!!!

You won't hear from me unless we're out and pick up Wifi. We can get reception if we walk 1/4 of a mile down to the lighthouse apparently......

Have fun felting.....

Ok - all done. It's drying over the edge of the bath. I like it, but it is quite cobwebby, not thick felt like yours Lesley! Will it be ok? I enjoyed doing it though, so will be doing more for the swap. This was just a practice piece.

Can we have lessons on egg cozies at a future date please - as I think this is fun!

Will take photo, when it has dried out. Think it could be a while.

Have a good break Lesley, 1/4 mile walk to the lighthouse and a chat with us should be part of the holiday :D We'll give you a cream tea when you get there.

Smashing Emma, mine is a bit thin as well, I used 4 thin layers of fluff. When I made it with Omletina she shocked it by whacking it on the sink quite a few times which made the felt thicken up, but I like this one thin.

Yes mine was 4 layers of fluff too. I quite like it & have an idea of how I might embellish it. Itreminds me of seaweed in the ocean..so a few sea shells & star fish might look nice, along with a few beads & sequins. Or even a mermaid!

I will do another after my tea I think. Will try a few more layers & slap it on the bath a lot more times.

My 1st piece still isn't dry. I've made another piece, using loads more layers, again it is thin. I don't think it will ever get as good as Lesleys unless I do 50+ layers. God knows how I'm going to make a coaster out of somethng so thin? Perhaps I'll have to mount it onto a piece of commercially produced felt as a backing.

I wonder if I needlefelt it a bit, if it would firm up a bit more.

Love the colours, but a bit disappointed with how thin it all is. I could never make a pair of boots or a tea cozy. My toes would e freezing & the tea cold after a minute!!!!

Ok Ok . Calm down Plum.:lol: I've just started back to school which always knocks me for six, plus all the other stuff. Anyway- being positive as of now, so will start getting organised this weekend and see what I can do. What's the deadline again? My dear friend Ann always knew that when I disappeared from view and went silent, things were hectic or I was a bit down. She would shout at me, either by text or Fb or if necessary phone me and 'SHOUT'!! I know you don't 'know' me but do feel free to shout on here- it usually resurrects me!!

Worked this time then. :D It's early days for you so you're allowed to feel off it.

We've got until middle of October so got ages yet, except Emma who'll still be waiting for her felt to dry. You better make a piece of felt and needlefelt Shout in the middle of it in memory of Ann. :D
