Autumn Feltie Swap?

Recommended Posts

Just time for a small swap before the Christmas one - according to Plum!!

How about a small piece of felt?.........it could be just the push some of you need to practise making felt?

It needn't be totally secret so we could chat about the felt making process without revealing who we're sending it to and I'm happy to point people to a couple of good tutorials if needed.

We thought a coaster? The theme is Autumn. Posting date mid October......

Any takers? :anxious:

(If anyone needs just small amounts of fleece to get started then Torbay Textiles or Ebay are your best bet - Torbay do small mixed packs and also short lengths of most colours)

Oh good, five of us so far..... enough for a swap! I hope we have some more come along to join us.

Plum - I'm sure all of the Supermarkets would do the sushi mats - the only reason I found one was because we had a new Waitrose store open and I was mooching.....OH usually does any supermarket shopping as he says it's cheaper that way! I have no idea what he's talking about :eh::lol:

There are lots on Ebay though so I'm sure you'll find one.

I think we are all in the same boat except Leslie. I've made one bit of felt and Cathy has as well so we start off equal.

Perhaps we could make our first bit one evening together online and show pictures as we go along. A glass of something would help and I'll bring a cake. :D

I am tempted but I have no idea at all about how to do it and what you need. Like Ms Marple a list of what we need would be good.

All the crafty swaps are of such a high quality I don't think I could live up to such high standards in a craft that I have done never mind one that I have never done

Chrissie

Lesley does it sooo well

ooooo go on then...put me down!! OH will go nuts when he realises I'm doing something else :lol:

He wants me to finish the evening gown I was making, the knitting I was doing (in fact learning to knit!!)(I've so far completed the 1st square of the throw and the mag is up to 40 odd issues :oops: )

Putting all the stuff I've put aside on EBay, decluttering the caravan which we were supposed to sell this year :? declutter the attic storeroom :?

:doh: BORING :lol::lol: me want to learn felting...much more fun :lol::lol:

I'm certainly no expert! - I've dabbled with felting over the years but only really got into it properly a couple of years ago! I still learn things as I go along. It's good for me as I'm a bit OCD (!) and you can only control felting to a certain extent

I love felting - it's something you can do in a big way or just make small items. I've changed to making smaller items as my back wasn't too happy with all the effort required to make the scarves and wedding wraps I was making last year.

It is much easier than it looks and anything that someone takes the time to make is precious - no need to worry that it won't be good enough!

Terri - I'm so sorry to hear that you've lost your friend, do join in and hopefully it will be something to give your mind a rest?

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

An old hand towel

A square of bubble wrap (small bubbles) approx. 12" x 12"

A piece of fine netting the same size as bubble wrap (tutu netting or net curtain type of net) **

A length of wooden broom handle - 12"

A small plastic milk carton with holes stabbed in the top.

Ecover washing up liquid.

A bar of soap - Olive soap is best but any gentle soap will do.

Merino fibres - approx 50g will be more than enough.

If you use a sushi mat then you won't need bubble wrap and broom handle.......

** was it Plum who used knickers??

I'll be back later to talk about needle felting in case anyone wants to add some to their wet felted coaster..........

my knickers did feature

When I did felting with Omletina we used bubble wrap and a sushi mat but I can't remember the order.

I don't think I'm up to doing a picture on it like you did Lesley, can I make a nice bit of felt then embellish it. Perhaps try a scene later.

What about if we swap some of our felt and the next person embellishes it. :?
