Autumn Feltie Swap?

Recommended Posts

I'd better get a move on. I've been buying bits and pieces for weeks and think I have all that I need, but can't remember where I put the first bits I bought  I haven't even had a practice yet!!!

I'm about to start a work related course, but I have to stay in with the plasterer on Friday so I will have a go then. You never know, perhaps I will get it right first time

Good fun isn't it.

Emma I used the bubble wrap just to have a surface to get it started and then just used the sushi mat and a bit of net to stop it sticking. I missed some of the instructions before  and it's felting good now. Needed a bit of elbow grease.

Aha, someone at work is getting rid of a beginner's guide to felting book. She is bringing it in for me tomorrow - what good timing!

I got my sushi mat from an Oriental supermarket and some net from a haberdashery shop that was closing down - I hope it's the right type. They had pink tutu net, but I just got a bit of curtain net. I think I need more bubblewrap though.

Well I've made a test piece and then the real thing. The test piece, though sludgy coloured, is a much better consistency than my second attempt. You'd think I would improve but i think it was beginner's luck.

I now know that I need a worktop saver beneath my work as the sushi mat has left marks on the work surface. I tried a different method second time which possibly accounts for the change in consistency. It should work as a coaster though and I just need to put some finishing touches to it and it will be ready.

I think I could get addicted to felt-making and the sink slapping is very therapeutic...

A delay is fine by me - although mine is now ready :)

I am just about to message you all with your swappee so I'll ask if a delay is OK for everyone and see what happens. If a majority don't want a delay then, Terri, I'll let your swappee know that their coaster will be late.....all good things are worth waiting for 8)

Half term here is late - right at the end of October/beginning of Nov I think........

If I miss anyone off in my messaging ( ) - please let me know. You should have a message by midday today.
