Chicken shack
I want to section part of my garden off to give the chickens a FR area of their own. Providing their wings are clipped will a 4' fence be high enough About the hight of the Omlet fencing
BadGardener
Depends on the chicken really - smaller lighter ones (eg White Star) can often get over that much if motivated whereas my waddly old Light Sussex (light! ha!) couldn't clear a 50cm wire mesh. Mine currently have netting to keep them in part of the garden which is only 3 foot and they do get over it occasionally, but it doesn't actually matter as the garden as a whole is secure and I am only restricting them to one end because I don't want poo everywhere. So I would say it also depends how important it is that they don't get over it occasionally. In my experience a fence that they CAN get over if pushed can still be adequate as most of the time they're not going to bother. On the other hand if getting over the fence will put them in danger (eg a road or a neighbour's dog) then you might need to go even higher than the Omlet netting. doctors girls
i have a section in the garden that is used for a FR area and 3 sides of it is 4ft high net fencing there is one stretch of the area that uses my garden fence panel which is 6ft high and guess what yes one managed to sit on top of it for a couple of mins before deciding to come back down and join her friends i was preying that she did not go onto the the other side as she is the hardest one to catch but none of mine have had their wings clipped as we have allot of cats in the area but touch wood they dont seem to bother the girls when thy pass through the garden when they are out
