clucker1
I am trying to get to grips this Autumn with my slow cooker. Would like to try shoulder of lamb. Has anyone got any good recipes for it or any other good recipes for a slow cooker. I haven't been able to get on with my present Prestige 4.5 litre slow cooker as much as my old one which make I can't remember and thought I'd give it another go this Autumn. lillybettybabs
I love to make things up as i go along with a lamb joints in the slow cooker, I tend to add a light stock to the meat and put vegetables such as potato (to thicken the liquid) carrots and a few teaspoons of mint, and leave on low for the day. Yorkshire Pudding
We have a similar approach. With a pork shoulder fillet we just rub it with seasoning and flavourings and cook on low with no added liquid. It makes it's own juice. I've seen people do the same with a whole chicken - I'm sure a boned shoulder of lamb would work. The meat comes out extremely tender and the gravy is tasty - one issue I've found is that so much liquid is released from the meat and veg that the gravy can end up a but thin. So if you add liquid, use something tasty and don't be tempted to add too much - it'll make more as it cooks.
bluekarin
Also, brown the meat and veggies if you have time before putting into the slow cooker. It adds to the flavour and the colour.
