Hi all,

 

Not sure if I've spelt 'tarpaulin' correctly but we've recently bought a WIR and would like to now get it ready for winter. Would be most grateful if anyone could advise where it can be purchased.

Have you considered the omlet covers - they have handy bungee cords at the corners? Alternately I have seen shower curtains put to effective use.....

Googling it should come up with some entries. Tarpaulins Direct sell them - you might want to search 'clear' or 'glass' tarpaulin. Bradshaws are a well-known supplier, I've bought from them.

Most big garden centres should sell them on big rolls, like when you see the black liners for fish ponds, you normally find clear ones next the them.

I used a company called 'Adam's Tarpaulins'. They don't have a website, but a bit of Googling should bring up a phone number. They are very lovely and helpful and I seem to remember they sent out my tarpaulin without payment telling me just to post a cheque once I had received it!

I use their reinforced tarps too and they are very good. The current one has been on fro at least a couple of winters now and is still looking good.

I have to say that we were put off by the prices of clear taupaulin, Omlet one or otherwise. So we bought a B&Q Value clear decorators sheet thinggie (can't remember the exact name of them), cut it into two, attached it with a 'cross' effect using 4 bungee cords and hey-presto ... one thin, but perfectly adequate clear run cover. The coop part is still covered with the 'normal' tarp & this is still pulled across the whole run over the top of the clear cover overnight.

 

We've been using the clear dust sheet during wet patches since last winter and it has a couple of tears in it, but that's only one half of the product (it is folded over so its two sheets thick) and it only cost approx £4. Do watch out as some of the plastic dust sheets are white plastic, we just hunted online until we found one which was clear.
