Cheaper theatre tickets in London

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used the meal and theatre ticket deals available through someone like last minute.com? Ideally I want to go and see Wicked (a Christmas present given to me from OH from last year.) To book seats it is @£180 for 3 of us! If I book through a meal and deal thingy, it is the same price, BUT they won't tell you where you are sitting so do you get rubbish seats or not all seated together?

I haven't done it through See Tickets, but I did do it through work & saw Phantom in the the Spring, followed by am amazing meal at a place just opposite the theatre.

It was a special thing that my employers set up,so not available to the general public.

We could book our sets, which is vital for me as I have a fear of being blocked in,so need an aisle set. I think it worked out for just over £80 for front row upstairs seats and the meal, for the pair of us...well worth it!

Thanks. Last night I got as far as finding 3 seats which cost £197 booking direct with the theatre/their agent....I think it was SEE. So, still trying to find a way to get it cheaper. The problem with the meal deals is you can't see where you are sitting. Hmmm. I need a

I've bought theatre tickets a few times from lastminute.com. So far, I have not been disapointed with the seat locations - but it is a risk.

Another way of doing it, if you are not bothered what you want to see, is just to go up to London in the morning, buy last minute theatre tickets from the various booths at Leicester Square. Then have a nice day at the museums or whatever, before dinner where you want and a good evening. Often good prices, but who knows what you might end up seeing!

I'm only 30mins from London - so for me this is worth the risk. However, if you are coming from further affield I understand that you might want confirmed tickets before you leave!

I've used GILT http://www.getintolondontheatre.co.uk/ before now (depends when you want to go).

It's sometimes cheaper to buy tickets nearer to Christmas for early new year as I booked Wicked for my brother and sister and their spouses a couple of years ago for less than £30 per ticket - good seats too. Offers start around mid-November.

Also Groupcon and some of the special deal sites are worth signing up to. That said I just had a quick look and can't find anything for a particularly good price :?

Have a look at TKTS, think you maybe able to book in advance.

We've booked through lastminute.com before but tbh I usually go to the booths in Leicester Square on the day.

We got Wicked tickets for about £25 over the Summer and they were good seats.

We saw "Cabaret" at the ~Savoy Theatre this afternoon. I got the tickets at TKTS in Leicester Square at around 11 this morning. Fabulous seats in the stalls - I paid £35.50 each for tickets with a face value of £65. There wasn't as much choice as usual - but it was a half term matinee we wanted. I think that the Cabaret tickets were available because you wouldn't take young children to this (very) dark production! Ho hum - it means that we will have to go again to get to see our first choice (Les Mis).
