Best liner/ bedding for drop tray

Can anyone recommend some really good poultry shears to me that won't go blunt?

My current pair were a cheapy pair bought from eBay to see if they'd be better for cutting up chicken carcasses for the dog than a knife (they are) but they have very quickly gone blunt - I've only had them about 3 months and they have been used on average a couple of times a week, so not exactly excessive use!

Or if anyone could suggest a way of sharpening them maybe?

I have some very old and good ones, no idea where I got them. I sharpen them on a knife steel, then smooth the edges on a carborundum stone. I mostly use a cleaver these days though, and it gets used a lot for the dogs' chicken carcasses.

I did consider a cleaver instead, but the possibility of me chopping my own hand off is far too high! (I am very clumsy).

I don't have a steel, only one of those sharpeners where the two pieces of metal cross in an X shape (if that makes sense) and that's made it even blunter! I wonder if a butcher would sharpen them for me?

I think I will pop into the butchers next time I'm in town and see if they can help me. Worth an ask at any rate.
