Christmas decs...

Recommended Posts

I like the bannisters and I love the birds on there.

I usually have the greenery with lights and cinnamon sticks wrapped with raffia and a few berries. It's nice to see through the window as we come home - looks warm and inviting. I started doing it as I loved seeing the Christmas tree outside my bedroom when I was little and to have the glow of the lights shining in the dark and I thought it would be nice for my 2 to have that cosy feeling. On the main posts (we have a half landing so there are 4 chunky wotsits) I usually wind ribbons down like a candy cane. The big one at the bottom also has a huge double ribbon that I made.

Hope photobucket works! Yes it did and I can see the lights have dropped down! Oh well not a problem this year - nothing up at all coz OH is a meannie! And just look at the tatty carpet! Better still don't look!:oops::oops: Still waiting for the stairs to be redone! Then the front door.

Had to turn the garlands so they were off the top to hold on to - MIL complained about it being difficult in case she fell. Darn it, I did try my best to help OH with his inheritance. This year I need to hold onto the bannisters anyway so it was a no go with or without the old meannie. The decs could have been placed lower down though.

Ooh never actually thought of decorating my banister, although it would be me who would catch myself on it and fall down the stairs

Couldn't see a single mouse nibble mark there PL

I decorated mine for this first time this year, but had to take it all down again as i couldn't walk downstairs without something to hold on to :lol:

I have little gold glittery birds on my tree too - will try to pop a photo up .... they always make people smile :D

Because of all my ruined decorations last year by mice I've bought some sturdy plastic boxes to store them in and taped the lids down. I read that mice don't like cloves so I sprinkled some in the boxes. Anyone know if that's true or know of anything else they dont like. I think we've got a problem, bag of peanuts for birds were left in garage and have gone and they weren't cheap. I would get a cat except they tend to get run over here.

I'd put some poison down ... I have two cats, and my garage was over-run by mice until I did this.

The chicken feed is in a plastic tub and that's been fine, but they ate a considerable amount of wax (comb from my beehives) and chewed holes in my patio umbrella and garden chairs. :( Plastic boxes should be fine, I use a lot of these in both the garage and the loft and I've never had a mouse get into one.

Took all decs down yesterday & got the loppers on the tree, so as to get it out the door & chop it up for the fire.

Re arranged the furniture, as we'd bought an old antique desk. It looks far better now than ever before & much bigger. How can that be when we have added a piece of furniture? I've just told myself that the Feng Shui / balnce of the room, must not have been right before. Ooo get me all airy fairy!
