Christmas decs...

Recommended Posts

Tree being done as I type, I've just made the door wreath(from scratch!! and the holly did too). OH will go mad and hang goodness knows what from the ceiling in a minute. Cats are lined up ready for the tree de- baubling session already,

I aught to think about food sometime soon, I suppose, although I did marzipan 4 Cakes last night... I'll try to get DS to take a shot of it all. We dont have a big sitting room, and the ceiling is low, so the Angel is a bit wonky, It's all too crowded!!

I think I need a gin.

OH decided that no way were we having decs this year because he couldn't be bothered to go in the loft to get them down. So yesterday DD and I went out for some chicken food and on the way back popped into a garden centre and we bought tinsel and jingle bells for my crutches and a mini fake tree and some battery powered led's. As OH and I were out at a neighbour's party, DD got out the tree and it has party popper streamers over the tree, excess tinsel around the bottom. It's not great, but at least it's something - and I always thought it was me that's the bah humbug one!!!

And of course the jingle crutches are driving him nuts! Mwhahahahahaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

 at Jingle crutches.

OH was out last night so I turned on the Christmas tunes, cracked open the Baileys and did the decs. Big black dog took great offense last night and stropped off to bed. This morning he has tried to drag some little parcel light things across the room, he's just been snoozing in his usual on the back, legs spread pose and then rolled into the tree

Broke my ankle Eggers! The chicken netting pounced and grabbed my leg, but I freed myself and came down awkwardly - one dislocation followed by breaking every bone in the ankle plus a fracture just above the ankle. Like I said if you are going to do something you should make a good job of it!!

That's just what I thought when I broke mine  I did mine with a bit less style, slipped down a small slope in the garden rushing in with an eiderdown before the rain hit  I broke both bones just above my ankle, one was a spiral fracture and the other several fractures which needed two ops and lots of pinning . Oh, and I chose the first day of the summer hols to do it  Hope it heals quickly for you. Make sure you keep it up as much as possible and avoid carbonated drinks as apparently they inhibit bone regrowth.

Thank you girls - and pooh, had a can of coke (caffeine free diet) earlier - OK that's off the menu. Rum out the bottle it is now then! Which is what I'd love to find under the tree!

Ewwww Bluekarin - that sounds horrible! But I guess you are up and running now OK. Must admit I'm pottering about because I get bored, but I shall take your advice - foot up again. Numb bum also on the cards! Overall I do have my foot up a lot. Any ideas why that is? I feel like I'm doing a static can can! Although I was told I can stand on it for as long as I can bear it. I'm not in any pain standing - but when sitting the pins and plate can a bit irritating.

One sheet of nori (lots of calcium) for lunch, arnica and symphytum I was told, so crunching on those too. CLO and calcium one a day tablets to make sure. Bleh. Tis frustrating though.

And another thing not wanted under the tree - my daughter's washing in piles to go in her room mixed with pressies!!!!

Sorry to hear about your ankle Valkyrie - tricky stuff that chicken netting, it's had me spreadeagled on the floor a couple of times before but thankfully with less dramatic consequences!

Decorations up here - outside twinkly lights, real Crimbo tree with as many baubles as I can squash onto it and my lovely knitted nativity which my Mum made quite a few years ago. Dog tried to steal one of the wise men yesterday, she was told to put him back and leave well alone :lol:

I also have a knitted nativity - unfortunately Jesus only has one arm as our chocolate lab ate the other one many years ago. I have to pull the little blanket carefully over the armless side

i can't wait to put my nativity set up, I have a set of French santons collected one by one over several years, I haven't been back to Provence recently so haven't added to it, but I love to get them out and arrange them. Haven't got any decs up yet as the kitchen has only just finished being painted.

Yesterday I discovered my extra long strings of multi-coloured-not-in-the-slightest-bit-tasteful- lights don't seem to be working so today I bought some blue LED lights and put them up in the kitchen. Possibly a mistake. I now have the brightest blue kitchen for miles around, no other lighting is required, and the kitchen door has to be shut otherwise we all get a headache

I love this time of year, the more fuss the better 8)

Our house is decorated within an inch of it's life as usual, OH really goes to town when he gets going, he has even put lights outside this year on the leafless clematis by the front door and hung baubles and some very tacky silver icicles which might have to 'blow away'.

We have our tree up with both coloured and soft white lights on it and assorted mismatched baulbles, tinsle and beads and the big fat Ty Beanie Robin  It is very tastful of course.

Fairy lights on the ceiling in both the kitchen and lounge, the kitchen ones are white and there all year round as are the white ones on the dark blue feature wall over the fire in the lounge. We are such a minimalist family.

We did buy a nice door wreath from a local craft market which I think is quite tasteful. :D
