sjp
this time last week Rusty my CLB was still suffering big time through her moult she looked as thin as a rake would leave the coop unless there was corn involved. Monday she was back to normal she even crouched for Boris. today the shortessed day of the year, rain all day, no sun since Tuesday morning and she lays an egg for the first time in about 2 months. and she's at least 4 years old to so thats her,her youngest daughter( 30 weeks old),plus one of her grand daughters(<1 year old). all laying blue or green eggs plus my Maran cross(about 3 years old) who started to lay her dark brown eggs again last week and they say you won't get eggs laid in the winter

good_egg
My wee Connie is still looking babyish - torn between not wanting her to grow up and the super excitement of coloured egg!! She still looks a bit off, skinny hips and no where near crouching.... My maran thought about it today though...

chuckmum6
Huh, my CLB is in fine health, but has given up laying, she laid three eggs this year in March then stopped. We miss her lovely eggs, but also love our very daft Tikka, so forgive her slothfulness!

mimi5
Well I am NO eggs here!! Can I ask sjp from crouching how long approx till the onset of lay?? I have 5 hatchlings, 3 are 7-8 months and 2 are 5-6 months. Out of the older 3, 2 are crouching and have been for about a week. They have also developed an interest in the nestbox, one of them is in there now! Eggs would be nice, we've had none since late nov. Last year Monty knew who was about to come in to lay, lavishing them with his attentions and was right everytime!! This year without him I'm left guessing??
