Cate in NZ
Toast for me too sorry Red, but bread isn't firm enough or crispy enough for the perfect boiled egg toast soldier dunk It's got to be thinly sliced, and very lightly buttered. I'm another sliced, pointy end up fan. I've tried the bashing technique, but then I end up picking off shell crumbs from the top of the egg- most frustrating when your as impatient as me . Whereas if you slice you can just cut the egg open at the inviting point where a golden runny yolk is just sitting there, surrounded by the firm white, it's positively tempting you to plunge that toast soldier into it. Yummy, I'm feeling hungry now Just as you're finishing you can turn your attention to the top, and one deft movement with the spoon will remove that last little bit of white This is the first time that I've actually analysed how I eat a boiled egg. This forum does get me thinking about a weird and wonderful selection of things
red
For me it's point up - bash - peel - oh and in case you hadn't gathered ...................................................................... bread!!! NB - BREAD - Wholemeal - homemade or good quality - not floppy mass produced sliced pap.

Mrs Frugal
For me, it's got to be buttered toast. A thick piece of white homemade bread - cut like a doorstep and a little sprinkle of salt on the egg!

Guest
I'm a toast man and it's got to be buttered with Bridel Brittany butter with sea salt crystals.
The Dogmother
Wooo, get you! Special butter too - sounds nice, though!
Martin
No, plain granary toast with no butter, and no salt on the egg either. Seems like an insult to Ethel and Doris to have to add salt to the egg. I wouldn't add sugar to strawberries either.
