Suggestions for 1st birthday present?

Recommended Posts

My lovely niece is one on feb. as she has a winter birthday I thought I might buck the trend and get her something for the garden to use if we get a summer. I was thinking about one of those paddling pool / sandpit combos. (I had been looking at them for a duck pond for me  ) however they say use from age 2 only. I'd love some advice, I would have thought she'd be ok if supervised? Or any other suggestions?

Another thought could be a sand/water play table? Mine hand one that they could play in all year round, ok it isn't one you get in, but to be honest the number of days they ever played in a paddling pool was very few. They did lots of pouring and building. I have a first birthday present to buy for my Nephew in May, so will read this with interest.

Being a mother with a duaghter who has a feb birthday I think you idea is FAB. Many moons ago (ok 10) for my Lyds 1st birthday my sister in laws got her a slide and swing (baby ones) it was brilliant because it saved me thinking about getting her summer toys in the summer.

So im sure your present will be greatly recieved :-)

Sand/Water toys sound fantastic.

My EDD has a May birthday, and even then a lot of people buy "indoor" toys, which while appreciated of course, sometimes an outdoor toy would be much more useful!

Even a paddling pool can be very good - and not always easy to find when the sun comes out! Plus any associated toys depending how much you want to spend.

Personally wouldn't bother with bathing costume... My 20 month old was naked in the garden for last summer (when it was warm enough!!). Much more fun apparently - and nappy free time of course!

Rather tahn a cossie, it would be more sensible to buyan all in one swimsuit thing - looks a bit like a wet suit for kids. A burnt baby is not a happy baby - should we get any sun! Also those hats that have a bit at the back to cover the neck!

A pop up tent with tunnel is a good idea. Can be used indoors in the Winter & outdoors in the summer.
