Curry stain on a new white T shirt

Recommended Posts

Ok with hindsight it was not sensible to make curry sauce with every single spice that is coloured whilst wearing new white T shirt, but the inevitable happened. I got a 50p size spill right on the front.

I took it straight off and put it in soak in biological powder with soda crystals on it too. It's now bright PINK. Help any suggestions. It's still soaking. Thanks

Turmeric - which is one of the usual curry ingredient (and stains a very difficult to remove yellow) is actually unstable in UV light so you can remove it by hanging the garment outside on the washing line. This works best on a nice sunny day when I have seen stains disappear in a couple of hours - but even this time of year it will work. My dear hubby only really enjoys a curry if he can wear it too, so I was really pleased to discover this trick. Hope this helps.

That's interesting about sunlight having such a strong effect on turmeric. Now does anyone have a miracle solvent for tomato sauce? That stuff is stubborn! I've recently started using chlorine-free bleach rubbed into the spot which generally works for most fresh stains.
