Willow
I'm finally planning my WIR and want to put the feed and bedding close. I wondered about using feed bins like this http://www.ani-mateproducts.co.uk/Feed-Bins.html ? Has anyone else used feed bins outside a shed ? mimi5
Wow Patricia! They look great!!!! What would you gor for.....barbie pink's a bit bright I just use an old plastic black bin , mine is next to the garage by the house and not up by the chicken run. I'm sure any of these these will be great for the job!
Olly
They look fabulous, but that's a lot of money for storing feed! I just use a plastic dustbin from a discount shop.
Ain't Nobody Here
£20 galvanised bin from Ebay! (Kept in the shed though, don't think it would stand the elements!)
counturchickens
Galvanised bin in the shed here too.

Bramble
Those look ACE, but like others, I'm afraid I just use plastic bins in the garage - would be great to have all the feed outside though ... I'm intrigued to know if they'd get condensation in them if kept outside though??? Let us know what you buy (and most importantly, which colour!!!!) Daphne
I use galvanised rubbish bins outdoors for the feed, but the bedding has to go in the shed. There is never any sign of condensation
Willow
Hummm Galvanised bins would be sensible, I must go look in countrywide stores. I use ikea stacking plastic recycling bins in the shed at the moment but I need that space in the shed and the run and shed are not that close. Also we have regular rat incursions (downside of fields nearby and a neighbour that puts food out for the red kites as well as our chicken food) so I know if they are outside they need to be vermin proof. Re colour definitely not pink my OH has an aversion to pink !
Daphne
Galvanised is definitely rat proof
fantasticjudyann
I use two galvanised bins outside the WIR ( for feed and corn ) and I got them from Honeybourne / Rare Breeds. They are not particularly cheap but keep out vermin. The size I got is just right for 20 kg bags of feed. Inside the WIR I have a large plastic dustbin that I keep the aubiose in so I can clean out the Eglu even if its raining. My WIR has a roof. My set up works really well but it is quite a large WIR. Good point Judy, thanks. I don't know why but it just didn't occur to me the aubiose could be in a bin inside the WIR . I have a spare plastic dustbin as well. cloud
We bought some plastic flip bins from T****'s that had been marked down. They're bright purple, which is probably why there weren't selling. They work really well, but are not mouse safe. We used one for a large sack of corn and stored it in our out-house but mice chewed through the plastic at the bottom. I'm now looking out for an anodised bin that's not too expensive.
fantasticjudyann
These are what I've got and they are excellent. I have never found them anywhere else but here so I don't know if the price is good. They hold a 20 kg bag of feed /corn. http://www.domesticfowltrust.co.uk/products/info_fbmidicaplid.html
