Will she ever lay?

Recommended Posts

My little Annette has been living here for 32 weeks now. Even if she was only the tender age of 7 weeks when we got her (apparently true) she is now pushing 40 weeks old.... I'm going to start a book on whether she will ever deign to lay! I'm itching to see if they are !eggbrown! or more of a !egg! colour!

Latte my Merrydale Sweetie hybrid took ages to lay, the other hen we bought at the same time to join our two Omlet girls laid a week or two after she arrived but not Latte, I even asked Karen at Merrydale if this was normal and she said it was very unusual and that they are normally good layers. I had nearly given up when she finally started laying, that was over 5 years ago and she is still with us and lays a few egg, she seems to have a few weeks when she lays about 4 eggs a week and then has a month or so off and then starts again. Sadly the other chook and the Omlet girls are no longer with us.

So there is hope, perhaps they are just waiting for some sunshine.
