My little Annette has been living here for 32 weeks now. Even if she was only the tender age of 7 weeks when we got her (apparently true) she is now pushing 40 weeks old.... I'm going to start a book on whether she will ever deign to lay! I'm itching to see if they are or more of a colour!

I wonder if she is related to my Gemma

 

I got her in the summer as a youngster and she has been crouching for the last couple of weeks but no eggs.

I don't think she knows how to do it

 

Maybe some sunshine will spur them into action

I'm surprised she hasn't laid yet, my Maran's were always excellent layers, are her wattles red, is she squatting yet?

Her wattles and comb are both red and big! But perhaps not as red as the others? In hoping she is waiting for sun. Couldn't cope if something was wrong!

This is her about a month ago. Big comb, but not that red...? She's a bit redder now but not much. I'll see if

Don't really mind waiting, just worry in case something wrong. Reckon she's just taking her time, as she does with everything else - all on her terms! Lol

 

Hope Gemma starts soon and the poor things get some decent weather!

Latte my Merrydale Sweetie hybrid took ages to lay, the other hen we bought at the same time to join our two Omlet girls laid a week or two after she arrived but not Latte, I even asked Karen at Merrydale if this was normal and she said it was very unusual and that they are normally good layers. I had nearly given up when she finally started laying, that was over 5 years ago and she is still with us and lays a few egg, she seems to have a few weeks when she lays about 4 eggs a week and then has a month or so off and then starts again. Sadly the other chook and the Omlet girls are no longer with us.

 

So there is hope, perhaps they are just waiting for some sunshine.
