went to the run this morning and what a sight i felt so sorry for them but there is not much i can do until the weather clears up

 

 

 

 

 

 

its just as well as there getting a big clean out next monday

It is not good ,I can not remember a spring like it and I have probably more years than you under my belt

My girls have sort of ventured out part of the day and their WIR was snowy inside but here down south although it has snowed all day it has not drifted..Spring has never failed to arrive yet

Oh dear . My perspex panels have been brilliant - only a little snow gets in through the gaps!

That is a lot of snow - poor girlies.

The wind must have been in a nasty position to do that to them.

It snowed here til lunch time but much of it is has melted already.

 

I hope your girls soon get some of their run back.

You could get some clear tarps and pin them up round the outside of the WIR to stop it getting any worse and give them protection from the wind.

 

This winter has been the worst in my chicken keeping history (OK this only goes back to 2007 but still).

I'm sorry... I shouldn't have laughed. I could just see the daft side of it.

 

Like others have said, just pin some kind of sheeting to the prevailing wind side. We're gonna have this easterly all week, and anything will help to keep the worst of the wind/weather off them until things improve. Stout, clear builders sacks cut open and stapled on will do a reasonable job of it, if you can't lay your hands on anything more sophisticated. (Lasted all winter on my last run)

Hehe glad we aren't the only one - mine is similar to yours but we've lost the ramp in a snow drift! The girls won't leave the indoor bit!

What about a couple of those clear corrugated roof type panels fixed along the outside of the run, I think you can get them fairly cheaply from B and Q type stores.
