Easter egg squabbles

Recommended Posts

Total waste of money i think. Not impressed with the collection in shops so got a kit kat one and a Yorkie one (both with mugs as we break a lot) . I then heard "mum L's eaten my kit kat" - at this point I read them the riot act as on Tues a receptionist at work bought me a mint Aero one for doing her boys blood test. Took it home and then found after an hour it was open and all the mint balls bar 2 gone  Hypocrisey if you ask me. They have since gone very quiet - and they are not babies either 11 and 17 so should know better :shameonu:

We used to be very strict and eggs could not be started before Sunday. Mainly because I can still remember vividly when I was little and the eggs were in sight but balanced on the box thing that used to be over windows so completely out of reach. The anticipation of that chocolate surprise was immense so I wanted that for my lot.

Now they're adults and buy their own and so I can't dictate when they get opened although it pains me to see them opened early. OH is even worse and gets quite Medieval about it not being Easter Sunday but they just smile and keep on munching.

By the way, I miss eggs that had the sweets inside. That was always exciting, but the sweets are often outside the eggs now.

My kids have to search for their eggs on Easter Sunday after we have had a Polish feast  The adults all hide the eggs in the garden and then the kids are let loose and try and find them all. The big chocolate eggs have their names on and they have to find their one but the little ones are a free for all. Once they are all found, they are divided up fairly and munching then commences :D

We have always had an egg hunt indoors for our lot. They have a big egg each and then we get a variety of small wrapped eggs divide them equally then hide them in the lounge and they have the length of the same track from a CD to find as many as they can. No large eggs before Sunday but the odd mini egg, Creme egg etc before then is ok.

My OH made some comments about how we should have waited until Sunday but I'm not religious so in total (ahem  ) ignorance of the 'rules' and let the kids open an egg on Friday...well, it was the start of the Easter weekend!!

My two haven't squabbled over eggs as yet, though I am rationing them so they'll probably still be eating Easter eggs for a couple of weeks! :D
