Bad year but back to chat...-update

Recommended Posts

Thank you for all your replies which have helped to cheer me up.

I am still really struggling and in six weeks time I will no longer be a teacher :( I have had to reluctantly resign from my post as I am no longer able to cope with the demands of the job. I still have problems with my voice and just do not feel that I am getting any better  . It seems weird that after 15 years, I will, at least for the time being, not be doing something that has been such a huge part of my life. Not sure how we will cope without my income but my health has to come first.

I can't wait to spend more time reading everyone's news

welcome back to the fold. :D:D:D:D

I have fibromyalgia and can have laryngitis with it for months at a time, lots of painful joints and muscles . All my body hurts , i'm very very tired to the point of exhaustion.... (can't get out of bed syndrome due to brain not functioning and body too weak ). It never goes but it has flares which are dreadful. Ask to see a Rheumatologist...

I have arthritis problems too and it seems to go hand in hand. Still your back and feeling better which is wonderful news.

Thank you for your response it all sounds so familiar Angie although your symptoms sound a lot worse than mine :( and I haven't been too bad recently until Sunday when my legs gave way in the garden and I couldn't get up! If any of the neighbours had seen me they would probably have put it down to one cider too many  I had been quite active though as I had been out with OH to walk the dog and popped to the shop. OH must have been really worried as he made me a cup of tea

Funny you have said about Rheumatology; I was referred in March and the first appointment was rearranged, then the second one was cancelled with no further appointment offered at that time. At that point I asked to go to a different hospital  So, having been referred in March my appointment is early September :wall:

I am better in the mornings once I get going but am worn out by lunch time. Apart from the lack of voice and problems with mobility, I was able to do my job. Being part time, this year I have been able to cope and have had virtually no time off due to illness. What has caused me a problem was the timetables changing for the new academic year and I found that I had been timetabled for most days starting later in the day and being there into the afternoon usually until last thing. I find this really difficult even on good days so had to make a very difficult decision. I felt this was fairer to the students than struggling on and finding it affecting my teaching  It will be interesting to see what happens once I am no longer working although I enjoy what I do and don't find it very stressful especially compared to the job I did before this.

I hope you are having more good days than bad. Do you find that the better weather helps?
