Tango has learnt to swim!

Recommended Posts

Tango hates water. She hates getting her paws wet, won't paddle unless it's a boiling hot day (and then will only go in up to tummy level) and absolutely will not swim... Until this week!

At the weekend, mum and I took her for a walk up to an old disused canal near their house and Tango was eyeing up some ducks who were swimming. I commented to mum that the ducks were safe, as Tango wouldn't go in the water to chase them when suddenly... SPLASH!!! Off she swam in hot pursuit  The ducks were very unkind and let her get right up close before flying off

Having discovered this new found skill, she decided to repeat the experience yesterday.

Now I can no longer be the smug dog walker who never has a dripping wet, pondy-stinky dog to the home!

Well done Tango! Wonder how long I can be that smug owner for as Neela hates water too? She walks around puddles, looks most dejected when walkies are in the rain (but that might be the rain coat I force her to wear  ) and will take the merest sip of river water if absolutely desperate.

I bet she still hates water if you try and hose her off  .

I think you're right!

Well I've had Tango nearly two years and we think she was about a year or so when we got her so... I reckon you've got a few years of smugness yet!

I can never be that smug owner. Labradoodles just lurve water and Milo's nose tells him its in the vicinity long before I've seen it. Its the only time he will run away from me, although he does check back to see if I'm OK with it. We did a walk on the South Downs on Monday with a longish stretch along the Cuckmere river. He was totally in his element bounding in and out but it was really muddy silt so his legs were just grey mud each time he came out!
