jjmack
Fed up with sky modem issue and some rubbish customer service - very long story - anyway have decided that its time to look elsewhere. OH insists on sports and we like sky living and sky 1 all of which you can get on Virgin. Their broadband is faster and generally so far their customer service seems good when I have contacted them for quotes - looks like it will cost about £100 less pa cos of a deal they are offering. So its seems like a bit of a no brainer - any pros and cons for Virgin - all comments gratefully received. Thanks
Ain't Nobody Here
I've been with VirginMedia for tv, internet and phone for years and years (and now have 4 mobiles too!) . I have no complaints whatsoever . I find their customer services to be very good and we're very happy with all their services. We recently upgraded to a Tivo box which is fantastic. I actually like that there are fewer channels than Sky (my only bugbear is that they don't have Sky Atlantic but that's Sky's fault, as far as I can tell ). I also like not having to have a big ugly dish on my house!
merlina
I have Virgin phone and broadband and their customer service is utterly abysmal! But having said that, my experiences of BT were even worse - don't have any direct experience of Sky, but they have their share of horror stories among friends too
Mercedes55
We are with VM and have had cable since the very start and although we were once tempted by a good offer from Sky we decided in the end to stick with cable. I also prefer to not have a dish on the side of the house, no matter how discreet they now seem to be compared to the early days. We have the TIVO box in our living room and that's been really great as we can record 3 things at the same time! I also like being able to watch the streaming channels and On Demand on the iPad and to set recordings when I'm out from my mobile phone. I believe if you have an iPhone you can even watch the streaming channels and On Demand programmes on the move, bit like Sky. We also have the V+ box in our other room which we get for free. We also have our phone and internet with them and their Customer Service varies depending on whether you get through to a UK Call Centre or one overseas. Mind you I think all the overseas ones are the same
jjmack
I think I will be going to virgin, but the one thing that is putting me off is re my email. Do I have to change my email address as no longer using sky, or can I still access it - i.e its my email address for life?
Geoid
I think I will be going to virgin, but the one thing that is putting me off is re my email. Do I have to change my email address as no longer using sky, or can I still access it - i.e its my email address for life? Your email address will continue to function when you leave sky. chuckmum6
I want virgin media, but in deepest darkest Leicestershire it isn't available still!
redhotchick
I'm a bit fed up with Sky right now. Everything is running as well as can be expected but broadband via Virgin would be much faster as it is cable rather than phone line for me. I've been a Sky customer for years and my Sky box hasn't got the functions of the up to date boxes, certainly not that of a TIVO box. It might be cheaper initially for me to swap to Virgin but it appears to cost more for me after that, I would be getting a better product though. Decisions, decisions! chuckmum6
Tell Sky your planning to go, you will be amazed at what they can offer to keep you!
Ain't Nobody Here
Or tell Virgin you want to leave to Sky but can't really decide - you'd be surprised at what they can offer to entice you . I threatened to leave Virgin and I got a 1TB Tivo box for the price of 500MB and free installation .
Valkyrie
We have Sky because we can't get Virgin (they have a head office in the village but the cables were laid in soon after we moved here but bypassed us - the next village has it though - pfffffft sassin rassin faffle ). Number one Son lives in Aldershot and he's very happy with Virgin.
