Glass bead making

Recommended Posts

I've spent a fabulous morning with my daughter in a glass bead making workshop which was my Mother's Day present. We had a really interesting time making our own design of bead which we will be able to collect next week. Anyone who is in the Midlands....it's well worth doing a workshop.

The studios are above the Henley Ice-Cream Parlour in Henley in Arden....... we had to test the ice-cream before we left

They do little DIY kits which would make a fabulous present - the D stands for Design, after you've decided on your design, chosen the bracelet lace, filled in the form and coloured your 'bead' you post it back to Caroline and she makes the bead to your design.

I used thin silver wire in mine....can't wait to see it finished, it was still cooling when we left so difficult to tell what it will eventually look like. My daughter's bead is going to be acid etched. We also get one of each others design.

Here they are....

Mine is clear raspberry coloured glass with silver embedded in the glass - the one my daughter made is ivory and charcoal glass with silver beads on the surface and the bead is etched.

I've put mine on a necklace together - and am saving for the silver necklace to go with them.

I can feel another hobby coming.......I have a book on making glass beads, now just need to win the lottery!
