redhotchick
Hi, as some of you may know, I have "volunteered" to do the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge. It is this Saturday. Yikes! We are raising money for the Parkinson's Foundation, funds will go towards education, patient care and research. I've been advised to take an I-pod so I'm looking for your suggestions as to what music to listen to! Please wish me luck x
Lavenders_Blue
Ooh goodness, it's hard to advise on such a personal choice! I'm not sure I'd want to be plugged into music, I personally prefer to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature when I'm walking, even if that sound is my own laboured breathing or my heart sounding like it's about to explode out of my chest! But that's my own preference and I can understand why others might like some music to keep them going. I guess something fairly upbeat, so no sad songs or anything too slow in tempo. Dance music (the sort you find on workout CDs) might be a bit TOO fast and over stimulating So something kind of in the middle? Something to cheer you up when you're feeling exhausted could be helpful - maybe some 80s/90s cheese might give you a chuckle?!
patsylabrador
My favourite yomping music at the moment are Haim, Walk off the Earth, Of Monsters and Men and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I find they all have sounds that keep me going. A song will come on and I'll think I'll just do this song before I stop and then the next song comes on and the same happens. redhotchick
I must admit, I usually just enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, and a chat with my walking companions. A colleague who has completed this walk previously has strongly recommended I take my own music. This does seem alien to me, but I will take my own music, just to be prepared. I do love the "pumpin tunes" I hear from the classes adjacent to the gym. I have added a few to my selection, hopefully I won't get carried away! 80/90s cheese? Hmmm? Gina G and the Venga Boys spring to mind straightaway. I am so uncool!
bluekarin
A good tune for cross trainer is Kids by MGMT. It has a good pace so might be a good one for you Titanium by David Guetta is also good Might be a little too fast though. Can't think of anything else right now, but will pop them up if you are interested.
Chickendoodle
Movin on Up would have to be it I too love Of Monsters and Men for motivational type music but I think I would be inclined towards a bit of Vaughan Williams - soaring music for the beautiful countryside
Daphne
My friend swears by her ipod when she is running - both training and racing. One of her faves is virtually anything by FatBoySlim. Anything to make you feel uplifted Good Luck on the 3 Peaks - one of my nephews has just done it
Luvachicken
I think you would have to listen to The Proclaimers - 500 miles - whilst walking And maybe whoever sang 'These boots are made for walking' Although I prefer to listen to the natural noises when I'm out for a walk. I hope it goes well for you.
